more Guru Rom.....
« on: January 11, 2007, 11:17:44 AM »
Here I go again!
I've been taking a look at the code of the GURU ROM and noticed that there are 2 different blocks....The first from the $0000 to $4FFF (I suppose it ends here because there are a lot of FF bytes after all the program text strings), and the second goes from $5000 to the end (approximately 7FFF (a little bit before...16 bytes before).

Now, it's time to find the way to switch between banks, and what are the conditions that make the memory banks switch.

I continue with the investigation....

Someone found a solution.....

Someone wrote in another forum that when the address being accessed by the A590 is between 0x2000 and 0x201F, the gal copies the value of A1 in A14.
He found it reading the source code of WINUAE, that emulates GURU ROM.
It could be easily implemented.

Regards.

Ralph has said he doesn't want anyone replicating Guru ROM adapters until all the back stock is sold. i.e. not devaluing any remaining stock.

I don't think we can make them just yet. But soon.

That's ok! I've been searching, and searching, over and over again and I didn't found that Guru Rom (Same as Guru Book!).

The only thing I can do is replicating the Guru Rom by myself or better, ask Mr. Babel where can I find some stock of Guru Rom.

I tried in several shops, Ebay....and found nothing.

I don't want waiting any more, as I expected the reprinting of the Guru Book. I wanted to buy it in german, but I was waiting for the english version... Now, Mr. Babel says that will be no reprinting and the german version is now unavailable.

Better no waiting!

The original english version was leaked as a PDF to the internet.

I'd like Ralph to officially approve the development of an open-source adapter PCB design before helping out.

Once we have the approval I'll help do the PAL logic and the PCB schematics.
