Since we seem to be on a best of/worst of lately...
« on: May 31, 2003, 05:01:01 PM »
What's the most frustrating non-release (software-wise) that you remember about the Amiga?  Specifically, what companies flat-out said they'd finished coding and then turned around and refused to release for the Amiga?

I'll start off with EF2000.  Screenshots.  Completed code.  NEVER RELEASED!  AARGH!

Next up?  StarCon II

I'd say application wise the Bliz version of IFusion (last time I preordered anything).

Gamewise Explorer 2260. :-(.

Believe it or not, AOL.  Yes, they had an Amiga client for AOL (version 1.0), forgot why it was pulled... Probably another huge fubar of C=...

@Hooligan: Now, now, lets not pick on RSN-OS. ;-)  For those interested:  I am kidding.

My comments are my own.

Targhan

Right you are.  AOL came from Q-Link, and C= owed Q-Link quite a load of cash.  Hence, no AOL for the Amiga.

An AOL client might've helped the Amiga immensely (stateside, obviously)

Eurofighter 2000 - a high-fidelity simulation of the 5th generation fighter aircraft of the same name.

Gourard shaded terrain, textured aircraft, the works.

All completed, never released.

Oh, here's another one: Magic Carpet.

Isn't EF2000 otherwise known as TFX?

Hmm..... I seem to recall an Amiga Novell Netware client back in the early 90's, when Novell was popular.  Never released.  Sure could have helped Amigas on the business side.

I seem to recall a game that was planned originally for the CD32 and the A1200 CD concerning dinosaurs.

I think is was called "Lost Eden" A few magazines had screen shots and preview copies.

There was a novell client release, but it cost a small fortune and was only good up to NW 3.11 if I remember correctly. I think it was written by some one from the SAS/C team. I tried to buy a copy for my amiga on our novell network at work, but it was expensive and we were upgrading to NW 4.01 making the client usless anyway. I think your right, it there had been a real client available, it might have made a small difference at the time.
