Does MUI have to be registered?
« on: January 02, 2007, 05:47:18 PM »
Good day all.

I recently installed ReqAttack on my A3000D in order to liven the requesters up a little, since I had a hankering for an ARQ type WB. In order to properly setup the program, it told me to install the custom classes: betterstring.mcc, nlist.mcc and nlisttree.mcc. I found them on aminet, and put them in the proper MUI drawer with the other mcc's, but ReqAttack is still asking for those three files? I then ran MUI itself, and found that since its not registered, parts of it are disabled. Is that what is affecting ReqAttack?

The SASG site hasn't been updated in awhile! Thanks for any help.

The unregistered version of MUI is perfectly functional, just not so configurable. That's all.
Run SnoopDos to see what is the real problem.

I'm still amazed at how quick you can get answers sometimes on this site. Thanks, I'll download it and give it a whirl.

Is there still anyone at SASG who can take the $$. I got a nice christmas gift from the folks, and are feeling a little generous to programers whose programs I use often, besides upgrading the 3000.  :-)

yes, it is possible to register MUI at http://www.sasg.com/cgi-sasg/order_info?app=MUI

However Stefan has lost his keyfile generator or something so you'll get a keyfile registered on someone else  It is said this is a temporary solution only but it takes somehow long...

If it's a temp situation, does that mean Stefan will Re-issue Personal KeyFiles when he has found his KeyGen?

Er, htf do u loose a KeyGen! :-?

When I registered my MUI a while ago, Stefan told me his Amiga 3000 (which he must use for development, and he must keep his key generator on there) wasn't in a working state, and I was given someone else's key.

I recently emailed him to ask if he'd managed to get it working again yet, but I've had no reply.

Ah well.

Thanks for the info, I was going to ask Stefan about this very thing.
When I registered MUI at the start of last year, he sent me David Gerber's key for temporary use and mentioned his A3000 wasn't working.
I even offered to repair his A3000 for only the cost of freight, but I didn't receive a reply.
That's assuming it wasn't a hard disk failure.  I'm sure someone as clever as Stefan would keep backups?!

If you hear any updates, please let us know.

I ordered my MUI keyfile a few days ago and I just got an email back containing a keyfile. It seems that his A3000 is still down though and that he is still unable to generate personalized keys at this time. He says he'll send out personalized keys as soon as he is able to do so. I think its awsome that its still possible register MUI.

Thanks goes out to Stefan !  :-)

Do you have the betterstring.mcp as well as the .mcc?  They should both be installed in the MUI:libs/mui drawer.

Might not fix your problem, but it's a start.

Cheers

EDIT - nlisttree also has a .mcp file.

When you download Nlist, you have to install all the 6 classes in the archive.

NFloattext.mcc
NList.mcc
NListtree.mcc
NListtree.mcp
NListview.mcc
NListviews.mcp

NList0.98

Download my MUI archive, extract it and follow the instructions included.
You just need to copy in your keyfile and the bulk of your MUI problems should go away.

Yes, though let me know if I've missed any or there are later versions available.

I suspect there might be problems with the current version of TextEditor though.  Been having nasty cut/paste problems with YAM since using the new version 15.19 released in November.
I've already logged the issue with the TextEditor support guys.
