Can anyone make me an icon please?

Does anyone have the know how to create a nice icon for me to get when I insert a Jaz disk please?

My current icon of OS3.9 goes into Workbench:Prefs/ENV-Archive/Sys and is called 'def_jazpc.info'


I have a photo in mind for the icon but do not know how to insert it into this post for you to see.

Can anyone be of help?  :-?

easy.... make an acount on photobucket.com or any other free image hosting service...
upload there your image and copy it's url...
then when u make a new post, there is a row of tools under the "message icons" the 3rd one ( ) is what you need to add an image in your post, press it an see  :lol:

Unfortunately I don't think we can just make a JPEG, PNG or GIF image, rename it as 'def_jazpc.info' and put it into Workbench:Prefs/ENV-Archive/Sys of OS3.9


Any more ideas please anyone? :-?

You can do this with PNG images if you run PowerIcons. Native PNG icon support for OS4 has been promised.

Run Sys:Tools/Iconedit.

Go to Project menu / open and choose your default Jaz icon.

The selector at the top of the window should say New Image (if it says Old Image, change it to New).

Choose Images menu / Load / Image... and select the first image.

Now the Normal image will be shown.  Select the Selected box and repeat the loading.

Choose Extras menu / Minimise Sketchboard.

Choose Project menu / Save.

Done, reboot to take effect.

I haven't installed PowerIcons as I read that it even slows down an 060. I've not fuly installed KensIcons either for the same reason. But I have chosen some of KensIcons that I like and renamed them as 'Disk.info' and put them on my partitons (see attached Workbench screengrab) I'm prety happy with the way it looks :-)

Many thanks for that detailed instruction. I have an icon at the top of my Workbench screen but it ain't too pretty and is not a glow icon. I'm not familiar with doing this kind of icon editing, so prehaps someone could help me out a bit here please?

If you use IconBeFast (Aminet) Ken's icons shouldn't slow down your system much
Using tons of his icons here and I'm happy with it
The PowerIcons patch shouldnt be slow either, it's a matte of running it with the right parameters..read the docs that come with it

Hmm, you might be able to fix that with the same program, Iconedit.  Load the icon, select whichever colour is transparent (looks like the shadow the Jaz drive casts), then fill the whitish areas with it.  Alternatively you could load the original pictures into a paint package and do the same.  From there you could even flip them around so they face the same way as your other icons (of course they would look mirrored though) then save them again as icons from Iconedit.

When you get it flip it horiz so it matches all the other drives.
