Is IBrowse 2.4 worth 55 euro? Well we dont have any better alternatives yet. But maybe it will be worth it to help motivate the IBrowse team into finishing v3.0.

Worth every penny, imo.  A more capable browser on the Amiga means less times I have to resort to using a PC with internet exploiter just to view certain badly behaved but essential (for me, anyway) websites.  i.e.  Now with the Amiga I can log onto fidelity.com --spoofed as ie7.0-- check acct., even execute trades.  No more switching to the PC to do expense reporting in concur; works great on the Amiga now.  And on and on. Its a huge, much needed upgrade. No quibbling here over the price.  They're earning their money.
Primary:
A4000T. Phase5 PPC604e-233mhz/060-66mhz. Mediator, Z3 Fastlane, Voodoo5, Delfina, X-Surf, AD516, Peggy Plus.

Collection:
A4000D, A1200, A500, Milan060 (Atari clone), Atari MegaSTE, Atari TT030, C64, C128, Mattel Aquarius, (2) HP Jornada....

Hmmm... Fair enough, I suppose, but wasn't there a similar way to do this in the past that wasn't a nightmare for Amigas and PDAs?

Easy, it's called the KISS principle.
HTML was expressly designed for "content not presentation", and the Madison Avenue types have been trying to subvert it ever since. We don't NEED all this useless glitz and eye candy to do what were doing on the WWW, but a lot of people are making money crapping it up.

KISS example:

IBrowse is a bit slower compared to AWeb at least when visiting Amiga.org.

I have to report quite the opposite.  I'm on a 4000D, CS MKIII 060, 128MB, PIV in 1024x768 24-bit.

I pitted IB2.4demo v AWeb APL.  I'm using all WarpDT image datatypes.  That might be the difference, as I'm not sure which program uses what decoders.

The gf is looking for another Christmas gift for me... :-)

Couldn't all that that css functionality be handled better by standalone software rather than by changing the standard?

Yes. IMO CSS is pointless. When I'm desgning a web site/web app I have a 'header' file which includes all of the font styles, table styles etc etc, and the body tag. This file is included in every other page by adding the line "require('header.php') to the top of each script. This makes every page look the same.

There is no CSS in this script. I define variables in header.php such as '$table', which would contain a value like "", or "". Then when I want to create a table or a piece of text I just echo $table or $font first to make sure it looks the same as all the other tables and text.

If I want to change the look of the whole site, I just edit header.php, and all of my other pages change automatically.

The code which is actually sent to the browser to be displayed is standard HTML. No CSS. So it works perfectly in Amiga browsers.

CSS = pointless.

PHP requires an access to server side things and all users can't afford that or lack coding skills.

True, but most web hosts provide PHP services [EDIT] as standard [/EDIT], and TBH PHP isn't that difficult if you just want to set some variables and echo their values to the browser to help you get a consistent style.

Still, embedding style into HTML documents have been deprecated for years and Amiga is only platform lacking CSS support now. The world has been using CSS almost 10 years now.

And like I wrote earlier, XML support is also highly appreciated.

Yes, it much faster here as well. Java does not hardly ever time out. You can actually look at E-Bay pages now. (Still don't format right). Its a good upgrade, I hope we make it to version 3.0 some day.

Ibrowser 2.4 worth 15 eur!!

IB now is a good browser, but lacks some feature like CSS2, full support of java e javascript.
Flashplugin is quite good, but not support audio or complex flash cartoon.

On Windows, linux, MacOS, BeOS, SmartPhone and mobile..browser are free and yuo can surf anywhere with full features on.
