Any Macro Programmers out there?
« on: December 15, 2006, 06:53:38 AM »
Hi Amigans,
Years ago, a fellow user spoke to me about writing macros for programs we both used, namely Dpaint IV and ADPRO. Of course, I don't have any of those today.... :-x

Anyhow, I wondered if anyone on the forum happens to have macros that I could use on DPaintV or PPaint (I'm only an emulator these days...)

I have been working on new animations (a bit rusty still) and I have had to save frame by frame IFFs to then port them over as GIFs to Photophop for web stuff on my site. I know one of the macros written years ago by my old Amiga pal served to do frame saves with sequential numbering automatically. With it, he could not only have Anim 5 animations, but also xyz.01 IFF / xyz.02 - IFF etc...

I would be super grateful if someone might have an idea/be willing to share some with me.
Thanks
Wizardo

P.S. I don't have any macro lit either, so I haven't written any...

PPaint (a.k.a. Cloanto PersonalPaint) already has a macro for saving GIF anims. Just click on the crown button (the crown is the symbol for ARexx) and check the list of available macros. Make sure you have the GIF I/O library installed. AFAIK it's not available on Aminet but only on Cloanto's homepage.

Bye,
Thomas

Thanks Thomas,
I checked out my copy of PPaint and it does have the "personal_gif_io.library" in its own libs drawer. Of course, I checked all over the system libs first...worried since I couldn't find anything.. LOL
I also discover Anim to frames....
I think I'm starting to like this program much more.... 8-) I know you recommender I check it out...but you know how old habbits die slowly. I think I probably logged thousands of hours on DPaint over the years...
Still though, PPaint, I believe, is going to be "the" perfect port over program for what I'm re-exploring and wanting to do with UAE and XP.
Thanks for your continued support, "Mortadelo!" LOL

John

P.S. (Update)
I managed to figure out that I needed to define the anim brush  before being able to save it as an anim Gif brush. It works great...that is, I don't have to painstakingly transfer every frame and create seporate layers for every one in Photoshop.  There's a little degradation in the image, but I'm sure I can figure out how to tweak it a bit to make up for that. Also, they still look a bit choppy in the browser, but I think its because I am creating too many frames for such little movement. ...more tweaking will solve that, surely...
Ciao
