csppc, ppc toast?
« on: December 08, 2006, 03:39:51 PM »
howdy,
I finaly got ahold of a csppc unit for my 4000 tower.  It looks like the ppc is toast however.  I have installed the WOS 5.1 and when I try to run a demo nothing happens. I have also attempted to install morphOS, but it won't boot.  I have tried intalling the warpUP from the 3.9 OS cd but that would hung the machine when it ran ppc software.  I have mounted a 12 volt fan over the ppc, but it still runs hot as hell!  I am starting to think that as nifty as this piece of gear is, it's doomed to toast it self after a shot period, I wonder what the longest somebody has been using one of these before it died AND any ideas how I can test mine further?
cheers!
 :-?

hey guru-666 u the same person as EAB?
if it still gets hot after the new fan maybe it is completelly fried! sorry to bring those bad news, but if u did all we discussed in EAB, better start looking for a new csppc...
btw, u can remove the PPC cpu completelly, thus turning your card to a fully functional MKIII ...

Have you got any memory installed on the Cyberstorm?
Else the PPC wont work but the 68068 will.
