Errors with floppys, but only sometimes
« on: May 26, 2003, 06:45:07 AM »
I brought an A600, and it had a hard drive with OS 3.x installed, obviously because someone took it out of an A1200.. anyway, when I play games, the floppy drive reads disks just fine. When I load XCopyPro and use "Format" or "Verify", again, there are no errors. However, if I try to format or read a disk in Workbench, I get checksum errors. I suspect that because the wrong WB is installed, thats why there are errors. Does that sound right? We cleaned the heads on the drive so its not that..

Sounds right to me... running wrong OS on wrong ROM gives weird results at best. Try installing OS2.0/2.1 instead.

Some parts of the filesystem is only supported with 3.x roms, and can therefore not be read with an a600. Try to reinstall workbench.
