Back after nearly 20 years

Hi, everyone -- I guess it's time for an introduction.  I became an Amiga owner way back in 1986, when I got my A1000.   After a while, I became involved in other things and didn't have the time for it, so I sold it to a friend.  I still count it as the best computer I've ever owned.  

Just a month or so ago, I happened upon an A500 that was being given away, and I jumped at the chance to own an Amiga again.  I needed to find a monitor, started hunting around the 'net, and found amiga.org and some other sites.  Long story short, I've gotten the "bug" again, and just today a new-to-me A3000 was delivered to my door.  It needs a bit of work (watch for my upcoming posts  :-) ), but to me that's part of the fun, bringing good old hardware back to life.  I'm going to have a lot of fun.  :-D

My ever-understanding wife says this is all OK with her...a project Amiga is cheaper than a project car. :lol:

Welcome!  You have a very understanding wife...me too!  It is a quality you'll want if your collection starts taking off.  

My wife was curious when I bought my first SX-64, then a month later a real 64, then a 128.  I had the A600 around since the 90s, then found a "new to me" A4000....now with a 1200 and 3000 to match I've started looking at old Macs.

My wife is VERY understanding!

It sure is part of the fun to bring an Amiga back to life and upgrading it. It's my revenge for my lack of funds way back in the 80s.

My wife is understanding too to some extent. I can easily go overboard with hobbies. One family member said to me this thanksgiving that it's always fun to come to my house because they never know what I'll be into when they visit. They asked me if I'll have a pack of Lamas in the backyard next year.

Well anyway. Glad you decided to introduce yourself. Have fun with your new-to-you toy.

We need to make a survey of who has an understand wife and who doesn't. Girlfriends don't count unless you're whipped and she makes you get rid of your Amigas. Then, she's practically a wife anyway and goes on the not understanding side.

Thanks for the welcome, everyone.  I've been learning a lot reading the forums, including how to clean up the damage caused by battery leakage.  Thanks to that, and a quick fix to the power supply, my A3000 is now up and running happily.   :hammer:  :-D

The last GF that tried that one with me, decided the amiga was better off being dropped on the floor (Still works though) found herself looking for a new BF faster than she could blink.

The Wife now (No not the mentioned then GF) allows me to have my museum (A4000, A1200, and the A500 i mentioned above).
