CyberstormPPC problem - Polish translation needed
« on: November 25, 2006, 10:32:26 PM »
Hi,

I seem to have problems getting the PPC part of the CyberstormPPC to work. WhichAmiga refuses to report a ppc. Only that the 68060 is a rev 1. Can the 68060 be too old? I replaced it with a new one.

If I try to use ppcinstall the load the ppc.library it says "no ppc.library available". The only site I found mentioning this is in Polish. Can someone translate it for me?

http://sp9wun.republika.pl/faq/ppc.html

It is question and answer 8 I would like a translation for.

Also, which flashupdate do you people have in? The latest official one or the unofficial GRex support one? Does it matter if I have no Grex or CyberVisionPPC installed?

Have you actually tried any PPC apps? do they crash?

use the latest official flash update, doesn't matter if you have anything attached like CVisionPPC for example

I'm using the same flash as in my other system and I'm using the test disk from Thomas Rapp at powerup.amigaworld.de.

This test runs fine on my other system but not on the new system. The new system was actually a 68040 which has been changed to a 68060. The flash update goes fine.

There is 2 things I can think of now:

1) - The PPC part is dead;
2) - The 68060 I used is being identified by WhichAmiga as a rev1 which may be too old.

Remco

Silly question - have you installed theppc.library into LIBS: - unlike the blizzard they are not contained in teh flashrom -you need to install them into LIBS: (iirr). The CSPPC install disk can be downloaded from various places - Amiga.resource.cx being the first one off the top of my head.
Apologies if I am stating the obvious, however the error message suggests that no ppc library is available [in libs:].

what the exact error message?

a sort of

no ppc.library available! (with a "mhhh" sort of button in the bottom?)

its the ppc.library the original one by Phase5 (not the ppcemul from willie) and there are not any WarpOS libs around?

If all the above components are already checked, your PPC part is gone :-(

If your CS PPC is made by DCE the odds are high that the PPC is dead

answer translation:
There is a problem in old PPC firmware. ppc.library is located in ROM (flash) and the only solution is upgrading FlashROM software.
