Reunited to and old friend! CD32 Returns... now what?
« on: November 17, 2006, 11:48:26 AM »
HellO!  :-D  First post! Please excuse my juvalnality and terrible spelling. Anyways, I'm glad to see amiga is still worshipped as it should well be. Cabable of many great things I am so glad that I have finally found one of the greatest eletronic inventions ever devised a Commodore Amiga! Hurrah! I havent even had the balls to plug it in because one: I'm paranoid it wont work (how sturdy are the amiga cd32s? I bumped it on the way out of the box (I've a broken foot but still no excuse is good enough for this blasmaphy) if it comes up hardware faults I will scream. two: I don't know how to plug in video, as this machine has come with a multitude of cables, video conversion hardwares, video preamps and controller adaptor cards. three: it has obviously been modified as some of the materials came in a "Cyberstorm MK2" 68060 Accelerator board box (but it isnt compatiable... RIGHT? ). When I was young I had a Amiga 500+, my baby, modifed to play 'latest' games etc, and now that I've finally been reunited and now know of some of the potential uses I'm so paranoid of turning the thing on without me making a single mis-precaution and watching sparks fly... so any advice or just plug it into the tv and push play? should I worry about amiga kickstart, periphials or anything else before I get this baby started/  best game ever> Dogs of War! Yeah! thanks for any help and when the time comes I will return it, tenfold  ;-) do not underestimate brilliance! Oh yeah I also have an amiga 500+ on the way so something else to toy with.  any advice or CD32 hardware specific links with helpful schematics     please the paranoia is killin me   :pissed:

There's not much to worry about before starting up the CD32. Just plug it in to the tv, and turn it on. It should be enough to connect it with the threefold cable (white/red/yellow) to your TV (or with Scart if you don't have these ports on your TV).

It's pretty close to impossible that your CD32 is upgraded with the Cyberstorm card though, since that only can be used in an Amiga 3000 or 4000.

EDIT: oh yeah, and welcome to Amiga.org! :-D

Don't worry, I wont be listing any illegal data for I have every respect for the artwork of software developers and think piracy is just another form of stupidity :) Anyways the Amiga CD32 works! Kinda... I think the multi-adaptor that has been jimmied into the auxalary port has a couple cross wires, as any input to the bridged ps/2 port gives me nothing but ``````````````````````````````` when a keyboard is plugged in there. fine when nothing is present however, so a serial keyboard should fix the problem. Workbench reports 1,657,432 ish graphical memory and 0 other memory, doesnt appear to be any hard-drives, and I need a weight ontop to keep the CD-ROM working but its a start!! working on the site, and I'll list it in the next day or two post some photo's if you people want to scrutinise ... and I'll -make sure- that the iso's are all shareware/freeware! I have: doom and quake shareware versions and lots've other stuff! plenty of amiga magizine cover cds... so yeah stay tuned

You should reread his post.. He clearly said it was freeware software and games.

And welcome to the forum Wademan  :-)
