WTB: A4000 (Desktop)
« on: November 16, 2006, 07:33:44 AM »
I've got a bit of extra cash so I have decided to sell my A1200 and buy an A4000. Here's what I'm looking for:

A4000 in clean desktop case
No battery damage
Preferably with accelerator card (060 - no PPC required)
SCSI a bonus
Graphics card
Must be fully working

If anyone has one to sell please let me know how much you want. I'm in England but prepared to pay international shipping if it's not too steep. I'll collect from most places within a couple of hundred miles.

Thanks

You've got quite a nice A1200 setup. You wont get any more "enjoyment" out of an A4k

I prefer the design of the A4000, and that it's in an original case yet is still upgradeable with graphics cards and fast accelerators. I would really be looking to replicate my existing setup with an A4000. Some might think that's pointless but hey, why do any of us do this any more? :-) Also, I'm hoping to get a graphics card with an RGB input and a built-in scandoubler and video switch so I can display native Amiga screens and RTG screens on the same display. Not sure what my options are for this though.

Picasso IV or Cybervision 64/3D are the only two I know of that have built in Scandoublers.

But dont forget that you will need to get Zorro cards (Sound / Network) which are expensive, OR get a G-Rex 4000D which is just as expensive.

Not to tease you with something you can't have, but I will be selling one in the next few days, but only in Australia. (Look for a post when I get it sorted).

It's difficult enough to transport something this heavy within Australia, without the fear of it getting lost/damaged/defiled !
They also seem to command a premium price here. Probably because of the cost of importing from overseas.

If you're in Tasmania in the next few days, feel free to make an offer.

Sorry I can't help, I will start a separate post for the other bits i.e. a Prometheus board, Voodoo 3 PCI card, Spectrum 28/24 card, and Vlab motion card which will be available to international buyers.
To quote the great man (John Cleese) himself - \\"My Hovercraft is full of Eels\\".

I have an A4000 desktop it you're still interested.  It has a Commodore A2320 scandoubler/flickerfixer, but no graphics card (think the A2320 is meant for ECS amigas but seems to work ok with AGA screens).  It also has a Commodore 25Mhz 040 accelerator (was originally an 030), 16Mb Fast ram, original keyboard, 170Mb 3.5" HD, floppy drive, 52x IDE CDROM drive, and official amiga technologies mouse.  The A4000 however does have some battery damage on the board near the simm sockets.  The Battery started leaking a couple of months ago but was pulled out (literally) as soon as I noticed it, and since the A4000 has been working fine (apart from the lack of a battery).  Looking for £150, PM me if interested.
