GVP A2000 Rev 5 HC+8
« on: November 09, 2006, 05:53:28 AM »
Anyone know if this card can be made to work in an A4000/040 Buster 11 board?

GVP A2000 HC8+ Rev5

The GVP card has v3.07/ECD9 EVEN/256 on the ROM label.

Cheers

I used to use one of those with mine ... at least I think it was that board, is it the one with space to bolt on a 3.5" SCSI drive to it ?

Hmmm...Not for me it seems. If I leave the Auto Boot Jumper enabled, the miggy just sits there forever......
With the Boot jumper removed, the miggy boots from IDE okay, the card can be read by gvp info & the Ram configures okay with fast ram. GVP mem test shows no errors on the Memory, but I cant have the SCSI side of it working. Trying to run FastPrep Error messages with "Check Eprom Installed; BOOT Jumper on; BindDrivers"?

I'm wondering if the 4.15ROM flash would sort it?

When you put the jumper on do you have a SCSI disk on board ?  Or an external SCSI disk ?

If not then I guess it's trying to find the boot block on an attached SCSI disk.

I never used it for disk myself, just used it for the scanner using the gvpscsi.device (I think .. use a sysinfo app that lists out the devices to be sure)

I also seem to remember there being a specific Hard Disk formating/configuration tool for it.

Sorry this is all coming from memory, not had an Amiga for a while now.

Good luck!

Yeah...the FastPrep utility & yes there is a drive hooked up with correct termination. Anyway, according to Amigis in Holland, I need at least version 4.5 of the Rom. I have D/L 4.15 but cant find 4.5 or later.
Can anyone mail me a Hex dump of the 4.5 or later FastROM please?
Amigis say they dont ship to the UK & there's summat about minimum order of 500 Euro's.
Google is not very friendly on results!  :-(

I use a rev II in my A4K. Be sure to use the latest gvpscsi.device, and specify it when using the drive prep tool as the default is scsi.device (which leads back to the IDE channels).

I run mine with the boot rom disabled, since I'm booting from an IDE drive. It's not necessary for access to SCSI devices.

My jumper settings (fully populated RAM):

RAM
J5 off
J6 on
J7 off
J8 off
J9 off
J14 off

Boot
J4 off
J3 off

ID
J10 off
J11 off
J12 off

J2 2-3

DTACK
J15 off

A4000D, A3640 OC-36.3MHz, custom tower, Mediator A4000D. Diamond Banshee 16M, Indivision AGA 4000, GVP HC+8.

Mac Mini 1.5GHz, that might run MorphOS someday, when the fools who own it come to the realization that 30 minutes just isn\'t enough time to play with it enough to decide whether or not you like it enough to cough up $200.

 - Someone please design SOME kind of DIY accelerator for the A4000. :D -

Thanks for your help fellas. I dropped Ralph Babel an Email & we're now sorted out with GVP BindDrivers 4.15 in the Expansion Drawer.

Thanks everyone.  :-)
