possible to burn CD using 68000?

Is it worth buying a CDRW for a 68000 Amiga? It'll be on a scsi controller that also has a hard disk and 4 mb fast ram on board.
Is that kind of spec up to scratch for writing or possibly  re-writing?

Hi,
I think you will find that all the software available is for 020 or above with 030+ being recommended.
As for "could" a 68000 running at 7Mhz do it... well with modern buffer protection systems in CDRW's I guess it might be able to, although just making the ISO file would take ages.
Best to think about upgrading your CPU first.

Ah, with blank CDRs being so cheap, I might try it as an fun experiment, if the software will run.

I have burned CDs on a 68010 A500 with 2MB RAM.

Use a good SCSI controller with DMA and you can pull off 2x burns.

IE. don't use eg. Supra, Golem, but instead use A590, GVP HD8+, or some other good controller.

Oh yes and the CD writing software is very slow on a 68000 machine. If you enjoy watching the machine draw stuff on your screen, go ahead.. :-)

I don't want to do any fancy or heavy CD authoring, but I thought it may be useful to simply back up some files from time to time, seeing as they are easier to get hold of than SCSI zip drives.
I've had it with floppy disks, they do my head in.
Could you let my know what software you are using?
