I've just acquired an A500. It will not read disks. I have a spare A1010 external drive. Would the drive from this be a direct replacement for the faulty A500 unit?

Yes, it will work!  I did the same swap and had no problems.  You might have to change a jumper or two on the drive though, I don't remember whether I had to or not.

Thanks Merc. You're right. Swapped over easily. No jumper setting to change either. Had to remove the top cover of the drive for it to fit properly, but otherwise ok.

Now, to use the A1010 case for a Super Nintendo Wildcard disk dual...where are those bits?
