A4000 plus tons of goodies
« on: October 08, 2006, 10:32:45 PM »
This pains me more than you can imagine, but I am being forced to sell my Amiga system.

The system consists of the following:

Amiga A4000, with Cyberstorm 68060/SCSI card, PicassoIV graphics card, 50mb Ram, SCSI CD-Rom drive.
Compaq 15" monitor.
"Miracle" keyboard (plus bundled piano learning software).
Two 3-button mice.
One trackball.
Two joysticks.

A vast collection of software on floppy disks and CDs, both apps and games, including many with their original boxes.

An equally large collection of old Amiga magazines, dating from the early nineties, including coverdisks. (My older mags were thrown out years ago, but their coverdisks are included here, some going back to the mid eighties)

Please note: Due to personal information being on the hard drives, I'm not including them with the computer. You will need to supply your own HD and install the OS yourself. Sorry about that; I hope you understand.

Buyer will need to arrange collection. I'm in Berkshire, England. Serious offers only, please. I'm not going to put it on ebay, so you will need to contact me directly at amiga at spudley.com.

incidentally, anyone else know of an amiga utility to rewrite every sector, and render the drive free of prior data ?

WipeDisk should do the job.

Put the drive on a Windoze machine, reformat and then scrub with Shiva........or is that just a bit paranoid? :inquisitive:

He he, I remember the Miracle Piano for the Nintendo Entertainment System (yes some many people rarely called it that, so I just wanted to.) That was kinda cool. But for some reason I found that the keyboard that I was using would stick and cause me not to score well in the mini games.

AlexH, please contact me by email if you're interested, and we can work something out. You're right; Oxfordshire is close enough to arrange an easy pick up.

For the benefit of AlexH, and anyone else who wants to know more info....

I'm sorry I didn't put a price on the original post -- I was probably a bit careless to post the ad without stopping first to research what these things are actually worth!

However, I've done a bit of looking around today. A lot of the things were very hard to find on Ebay etc, but here's what I've found so far... (I'm quoting the prices in GB Pounds)

I saw a Miracle keyboard for sale for £20.
An A4000 without expansion for just under £100
The Cyberstorm/CyberSCSI combo was about £200
[edit] Apparently PicassoIVs sell for over £100 (which is a bit more than I'd guessed originally).
And looking at prices I could find, I reckon the various games, apps, mags and coverdiscs could be sold separately for over £100.

So by my reckoning (and assuming I haven't made any horrible errors in the currency conversions!), the whole package is worth somewhere over £500. [edited]
However, I appreciate I'll probably get a lower price for it all as a job lot than the value of the separate items. I'm really not interested in splitting it up; having just the one sale is plenty enough hassle!

So with the above in mind, all I can ask is for anyone interested to make an offer that you think is fair. I'm not asking you to match the £500 I've quoted; just whatever you think is fair.

There's been a few people making enquiries, and of course they all wanted to know the price, so I'm going to tell everyone the same thing above, and see what offers come in.

I would prefer not to have to package it up and ship it, so if you live close enough that we can arrange collection, it will be a lot easier. But if not, then bear in mind I'd have to add shipping to whatever you offer; and it would be a bulky enough package for that to be pretty expensive.

I hope that answers all the questions. If I've missed anything, please feel free to ask.

Thanks again to all those who replied. I hope I can get this dealt with quickly now.  :)
