While the US licks its economic wounds and distracted with skirmishes far from and irrelevant to its borders, India and China are emerging as new powerhouses in the world economy.  The workforce in these countries lack the apathy of other nations while all the while acquiring increasingly better standards of living and a large appetite for modern consumer goods (like mobiles).

Of course, capitalism follows whatever countries provide the best opportunities (even in 'communist' China).  A large, highly skilled contigent of professionals are emerging from India and, given a very favourable currency, multinationals (including Amiga) have their best revenue interests at heart to utilise such a resource pool.

From the indian workers' point of view, its good money.  From Amiga's point of view, its good profit.  Everybody wins (except those without a job).

... provided "as is" with no guarantee or warranties regarding its accuracy.

Total FUD.  They need to clean up their filthy, scam-artist like tactics by regularally contacting the owner of the domain to verify validity.

... is provided for the sole purpose of assisting you
in obtaining information about domain name registration records.

Another joke.  They can't control what a person does with said information once it leaves their network.  That is, if you're not one of their customers, they don't have any legal means to force their FUD up your throat.

... any use of this data for any other purpose is expressly forbidden ...

Another joke.  Backing up the above, the information becomes public knowledge once it's displayed.  Idiots.

Okay...I assume then (since it only lasts one year) that they intend to leave all their customers stranded once said domain expires...like EyeTech.  The only difference being that it'll just expire instead of redirecting you.

I don't think this is for building or improving AmigaOS.  It is likely a source of revenue for Amiga Inc.  AmigaDevIndia would likely be developing apps on top of the AmigaAnywhere layer to provide solutions for mobile companies.

Mobile software was the original focus of the Indian company anyway so it's a less risky prospect then shifting the workforce to work for AmigaOS.  But the idea of the acquisition will be to yield sustainable cash flow from what appears to be a solid company with a steady stream of work from established clients.

But I only ever speculate ;)

I was just drawing one of the most likely conclusions if they keep up their tactics...

Searching the web this is what I found...

"Amiga Inc. is pleased to
announce that it has reached an agreement with Ruksun Software Technologies to
bring its award winning Messenger Force and IMAP Force products to Amiga."
www.prnewswire.com

This is interesting:
ruksun.com
Seems to be the same site w/o the Amiga Logo.

Well, obviously. Amiga bought Ruksun.com, as the press release stated. Ruksun was a Amiga(DE) partner before, that's what this other press release states. Makes sence, doesn't it.

I would be interessted, if that means, if all OS4++ work will be done by that company, or if they are more ment to add services on top of the OS, or target the whole market, e.g. solutions for common mobile devices, not focused on AmigaOS.

Or in short, what impact this aquisition will have on the future AmigaOS development (not necessarily AmigaOS4, but the next generation). Manpower would be probably sufficient to accelerate the development, ... but then, they could also just add services to the OS specifically targeting the mobile market.

Well the Ruksun site indeed seems to be the same without the Amiga logo and the Amiga DE in mobile software page on the technology part. Technology -> Mobile platforms.

So I would not take it for granted before news on the Ruksun own site is shown. Now their latest news is from 2004.

Some old "deals" with Nokia, Corel etc. comes to my mind. Just wanted to point this out. Hope its true this time...

Well the Ruksun site indeed seems to be the same without the Amiga logo and the Amiga DE in mobile software page on the technology part. Technology -> Mobile platforms.

Not that that page is especially impressive to begin with - Series 40 isn't Symbian based, and it's missing any mention of anything that shipped since about 2005. Whatever Amiga bought there, it seems fairly clear that they're not especially interested in obtaining new clients.
