cdrecord - crash, no Guru, just crash
« on: September 06, 2006, 07:55:44 PM »
I'm running cdrecord on A2000 with Blizzard 2060, 128MB, and a Yamaha CRW2100S.  The check works, -scanbus works, but when I give it an ISO to burn the whole system reboots.

Anybody have experience with cdrecord from the cdrtools package?

Thanks for the hint, LoadWB. I knew that an amiga port of cdrecord had to exist somewhere, but I always searched the wrong places. I just downloaded 2.01 from sourceforge and will give it a try, maybe this evening.

Back to your problem: Which firmware version do you have on that burner?

Good question.  1.0H.  I'm going to see if there's an update today.

The latest seems to be 1.0N, you can find it here. However, they only offer flashing tools for PC/Mac. There is a tool on Aminet, but it doesn't seem to support the 2100s (see the readme).

I had just found it, too.  I downloaded the update and can see the separate .bin file in there.  Too bad the flash program won't work with my drive -- I'm tempted to try it, but afraid of ending up with a paper weight.  I'll probably just pull it and drop it in my home workstation as it has a 50-pin SCSI card in it already.

I should have time to play with that this weekend, so hopefully on Monday I'll have some results.

Well, quite a late reply I have to admit. But I had no success in using cdrecord yet. The problem is that cdrecord only sees scsi.device when I do a "cdrecord -scanbus". My burner is connected to the 1230scsi.device of my Blizzard. I found a patch on sourceforge which I assume is compiled into the version I downloaded and which obviously is supposed to solve the problem. But not in my case... any ideas anybody?
