Questions about GVP G-Force 030/40
« on: September 03, 2006, 03:17:44 PM »
I just did a trade for an Amiga 2000 with a G-Force 030/40 in  it. I upgraded the computer to 3.1 Kickstart and have Workbench 3.1. I'm just now getting back into the Amiga scene after just playing with a 500 many years ago. I also have 2 A500s now. Anyway, I have no instruction for this card except for the jumper settings page.

I think it's working since I held down both mouse buttons during statup and saw that there was a device listed. I also see the HD light flash before booting from floppy and I also see the 8 MB ram on the workbench screen (which it has).

My questions are:

- What size HD will this support? The smallest I have is a 4 GB IBM SCSI drive. It spins up and the HD light flickers but if I try to do the 3.1 install disk, it says it can't partition. Do I need to set termination on the HD or change it's device # from 0?

- How to get disks? Since I have no disks, I have to download from the Internet but how would I get them to the Amiga. I know I have crossdos but I've never used it. Any links to instructions would be appreciated. Could someone copy their disks and send me physical disks? I'd be happy to paypal money to cover disks, time and shipping.

- Can I get a manual somewhere?

- Finally, maybe the manual and disks will make this more clear but how do I take advantage of this card? Does it pretty much happen automagically?

Thanks in advance for the help. It's been a while since I've been a newb with computers so hopefully I won't irritate anyone to badly.

you can put there a hardisk of any size but for 4gb+ you must install OS3.9 which have a new scsi.device ,also you can install idefix97 instead to make support for larger hardisks
to change data betewen amiga and pc using floppys..do it using DD floppys ( 720k)
