Wireless network cards on A1200
« on: August 31, 2006, 08:36:28 PM »
Hey guys (& gals),

I remember having seen a site (also linked here somewhere) with a list of pcmcia network cards that did/dit not work with an A600/A1200. Unfortunately, I can't find the link anymore. Does anyone have it?

Does anyone know if this card will work with an A1200:
CLICK! (page in dutch, but pretty understandable I think)

Are there also other "common" wireless cards that will work?

Thanks in advance!
Eric

It does not even fit into the slot. You need a 16bit PCMCIA card, not a cardbus card.

Also the description does not say which chipset is used, so even if it was the right type of PCMCIA, one could not say if it worked.

You should first download the drivers: http://www.aminet.net/package.php?package=hard/drivr/prism2.lha

Then try to find one of the cards listed in the manual.

Bye,
Thomas

Theres a TON of wireless cards that work, the problem is that you cant always be sure what chip they have inside just from the model number.  The cards that do work contain the Prism2 chip, this was very common for early 801.11b cards such as the very first Belkin PCMCIA (the one I have).

As for the list of none-wireless cards, you can find that supplied with the driver. http://aminet.net/package.php?package=hard/drivr/cnetdevice.lha

Thanks!

I'll just steal the wireless card from one of my friends and see if that will work (at least I know that one fits). :-D

Cheers for the quick answer!

Do you realise that card isn't even wireless?
