 @all
        Hi! just received a reply from Andrew and this is what he said

      Quote: At the moment I am not going to do another run of Phoenix boards, but this may change if there is enough interest.  The only assembled boards left, about 30 or 40, are boards that have been tested and found not to work.  To get these working would be correspondingly harder, take more time and therefore cost more.

To assemble blank boards would be prohibitively expensive, as all components would have to be bought and the hand assembly time enormous.

At present I have one fully functional board left over from the last lot I did for Robert and the Germans.  It is available for AU$300 plus postage to anyone who is interested.

Regards,

Andrew.

@bigmac,

Some of us might not mind spending enormous amounts of hand assembly time to "do-it-ourselves".

I have also sent you pmail.
How are you helping the Amiga community? :)

@all
Well at least he didn’t say it would be impossible so there is some hope at least :-D

If we’re all still really serious about trying to convince Andrew to do another run I wouldn’t mind volunteering myself to whip up a small online database to track people who’d be interested in this project. That is if there isn’t one already.

 I see a business oportunity  for someone who knows how to troubleshoot and repair boards :make a deal with Andrew !
 Andrew could recoup some funds from currently unsalable inventory and 15 or 20 Amigans could be made happier. I am assuming a lot heree,including some boards would have to be scapped.

 Or maybe someone could get the rights to produce blank ,drilled boards and clear documentation.

@TjLaZer

So it's the exact same as an A1000 mobobobo? I was thinking it was some smaller form factor dealybob. Is there advantage to it besides just having a less than 20 year old piece of hardware?

@weirdami

It's not a carbon-copy replacement motherboard. It has a few extra's like a Zorro II and Video-slot. Have a look (and read) at  a1k.org  and read all about it.

Get a SAM, while you can! The new AMIGA is here!

Here is a tip: sell them on eBay and use the profit for a new production run :-D

Probing who is interested isn't the biggest problem, I think this thread pretty much covers it.

The biggest problem; for anyone is raising the funds to do it. Say 50 people would want one at 200AUS$, that would mean a (upfront!) payment of 10.000AUS$.
Then you have to manage to get everyone to pay in time, wait for the boards to be finished, and then comes shipping + import taxes (depending on where you are).

Anyone with a spare 10.000 AUS$ should go for it; looking at the current market the chances are very slim you would be stuck with any boards; but I for one don't have that kind of cash upfront.

For those unfamiliar with such a board, like me, what is it and what does it offer?

@PJHUTCH

As can be read on amiga-hardware.com its a replacement motherboard for Amiga 1000s. To get it up and running you needed the original chips from the Amiga and put it on the board.

As stated before, its not a carbon-copy of the A1000 originals  motherboard, it comes with a few extras:
* Kickstart ROM socket for 1.3 or 2.04 kickstart (not sure about 3.1).
* 1 ZorroII slot
* 1 OCS/ECS videoslot
* Possibility to use ECS chipset
* Optional SCSI
* 1 or 2 MB Chip RAM
* Battery backed up clock
Get a SAM, while you can! The new AMIGA is here!

@Tahoe
It may not be the biggest problem but at least it's one I can help with  :-)

@All
Database is pretty much done just working on a layout here, should have it up and running in the next couple days but NO guarantees :-)

I would be into this. I have 2 A1000s and I'm big fan of this original breakthrough machine.

@All

Hi Everyone!
Well it took a little longer than expected but the new database is now online and ready to go. If you wish to register your interest simply click on the link below and follow the instructions listed in the 'Purpose' section.

Now before you go clicking away here are a quick couple of notes:

-First, I have to apologize but I was NOT able to make this site Amiga Browser compatible *embarrassed*

Now before you go stringing me up by my toenails and forcing me to watch episodes of Star Trek: Enterprise until my brain implodes please understand that it would have taken me significantly longer to make a layout that works on all Amiga browsers then it did for me to create a layout in xhtml 1.1 and CSS.

-Second, I did my best to bug test the site before putting it online but as this was a side project I can not guarantee that I squished all of them. If you do find any bugs PLEASE let me know about them through the provided contact address and I will attempt to fix them ASAP.

- Third, This site is by no means finalized so if there is anything you would like me to change or add just give me a shout and I'll try and accommodate  :-)

Guess that's about it then, happy registering  :-D
