Toastscan/ Does it work
« on: August 27, 2006, 04:12:19 PM »
 Hello all,
I have a amiga 4000 desk top/T/F and a Timm.
The Timm is so damn big, so I would like to use a a flat screen LCD.
Does toastscan work well with a LCD monitor.
I heard the picture was very blocky when used with a toaster flyer.
can anyone confirm or dispute this.

ALso is there anything else that will work.

Thanks

Anthony

I can't answer your question about the Toastscan working with the LCD monitor, but when you have found out and are ready to get rid of that "damn big" TIMM of yours, please let me know.  I will buy it from you.
How are you helping the Amiga community? :)

The TIMM is great if it wasnt so big. I am running out of desk room and tied of the old lady {bleep}en about how big and ugly it is. ( it takes one to know one )
I do video repair and tweaked the TIMM so it even comes in better, then from the factory.
I am not sure about selling it,
But I will consider it.

The LCD monitor MUST have a minimum vertical refresh rate of 50Hz or lower.

99% of LCD monitors have a minimum vertical refresh rate of 56Hz. They work with Amiga's but ONLY in NTSC (60Hz) mode.

You can find them if you look.

The alternative is to buy an LCDTV if you are in europe. They will come with a form of Scandoubler (toastscan) built in but it requires some research to get one which supports RGB on the SCART socket (although I am seeing more and more which do)

Are you familer with the toaster/flyer.
If you are,
will this scart thing work with the toaster/flyer, and will the picture look similair to the TIMM monitor.

Hi,

I have a Toastscan and have used it with many different monitors. Curently I am using a 19" CRT monitor and it works just fine. Obviously the image is a bit "Pixilised" but that is simply because the resalution of the Amiga is very low. and the Toaster/Flyuer has a default low resalution and canot be changed.
I have Tried my Toastscan on an LCD and it works as well but remember the LCD monitors have one naitive resalution usualy 1280x1024 and just like on a PC if you use anything lower like 640x480 you get a so called "blocky" picture, the same goes for the Amiga output you will see the same sort of thing.
