Case recommendations for PegII
« on: August 24, 2006, 11:55:22 AM »
I'm after the smallest case I can find for my (soon-to-be-ordered) PegII. I want the system to be as portable as possible, so the smaller the better, while still being able to accomodate PCI/AGP cards. Any recommendations?

Thanks, what's the URL? Relech.ch doesn't seem to go anywhere.

Make sure that you are aware that some small cases only accept low-profile pci/agp expansion cards, so keep this in mind before buying, in case all of your expansion pci/agp cards are standard size.

The smallest case from what I know (and I had) for Pegasos II is the SilverStone LC02 (with some little work to make it fit).

That's a nice case! What did you have to do to make it fit? And does it accept a full height AGP card?

Well, look at the pics and the text and you'll see that it has 2 horizontal (but full size) slot-cover and come with a single-PCI riser.

Not something I would recommend.

http://global.aopen.com.tw/products/housing/G325.htm

Features 4 full-size slots (don't forget to add a PSU)

http://global.aopen.com.tw/products/housing/H360series.htm

Thats the case used for Genesi's ODWs (and I can say it rocks) only 4 half-sized slots.

My Peg1 is in an AOpen minitower (discontinued) with 4 full-size slots (there are similar models available).

Did I allready say that AOpen rocks ??  :-D
1. Make an announcment.
2. Wait a while.
3. Check if it can actually be done.
4. Wait for someone else to do it.
5. Start working on it while giving out hillarious progress-reports.
6. Deny that you have ever announced it
7. Blame someone else

I had to cut the drive carrier a bit so that the cpu card has enough room (otherwise the carrier would be sitting on top of the cpu card). For this case you have to use the included riser card to use gfx or other cards (no need for low profile cards). But I had to fix the agp riser card a bit because it was for AGP x8.

Here is a picture of case loaded with Pegasos board:

@Kronos
That case looks wicked. I'm a bit confused though, has it got full height slots or not? I need to make sure it will accomodate my Radeon 8500.

I was talking about the first one you linked to, not the second one.

Just wtach the Movie (Flash I assume) soemwher in the middle of page. After some time it will show the backside of the case, and yes those are clearly full-height slots.

"Wicked" you say ? A bit to much Klickibunti for me (lets see what babelfish makes out of that  :-o ).

My case recommendation:

Best Pegasos case ever

Extremely versatile.

What's "Klickibunti"? I'm an Essex boy. Where I'm from, "Wicked" means "Good" :-)

I'm trying to find a dealer who sells that AOpen case, not having much luck though :-(

I must agree. The Aopen G325 looks awful. But should be appropriate for a 15 year old snotty schoolboy.
