I'm planning on upgrading my Voodoo 3 2000 to a Voodoo 3 3000 and I was wondering it if would make much differents? I know the 2000 is 143mhz and the 3000 is 166mhz but would it make a big differents to my system?

Visible difference, no.
Benchmarks may show some speed-ups, but I haven't honestly noticed any difference between 2000 and 3000, just by "the feel".

You can always overclock V2000 to V3000 level through P96 monitor driver tooltype and see if you notice a speed difference. I think that the setting in question is called MEMORYCLOCK and you should set it to 166, IIRC. Perhaps you should also set OVERCLOCK to YES (it's been a while and I'm not sure if I got all the names right).

I wouldn't advise keeping this setting in the overclocked mode unless you install some active cooling over the V2000 heatsink.

man those voodoo3's get so hot! one must add a fan on the heatsink, it is ridiculus they sold them without active cooling!

Should work with Mediator, doesn't work with Prometheus.
I put a fan on mine right away. That overclocking may give at best a little over 10% fps increase, mostly at higher screenmodes but that's only just a couple of fps .

@zipper, what doesn´t work with Prometheus?  :-?

Upgrading to a V3 3000 or overclocking?

Yeh, I should flash my 3000 in a PC; I have the files but haven't done it yet (4 years too short time...)

@CLS2086, ok I can get the overclocking but I know that a V3 3000 works on a Prometheus.  :-)
