Pegasos is like an expended Classic Amiga, without Paula,AGA, and Amiga floppy.
So you won't fell lost, and if you want you can put OS3.9 over MOS 1.4.5 to get the classical felling (and some required files too for some old apps), you can also put OS4emu to get more apps

Put it one way im loving MorphOS and thats on my classic. I dont even have OS3.9 installed anymore Just MorphOS.
It runs great here so on a recent chip it should be amazing.
Put it one way its the fastest ive run most of my software if not all and most of thats under JIT

E-UAE for MOS runs pretty well, there are two versions for MOS, a native compile with overlay support and a SDL compile. They both support joysticks.
The SDL version has fullscreen support but the native version is a bit faster but you can't go fullscreen and there's no Picasso support I believe. Most games/demos I tried in both versions work fullspeed and are very playable on my Pegasos II G4.

If you want to use Workbench with Picasso screenmodes the speed is about half of a real a4000, it feels a bit sluggish though. The most important thing missing is JIT, this would speed up things very much. There's also a gui but I didn't try it, I just edit the different uaerc config files I have and start E-UAE with the config file I need.

There's also a Linux live CD with E-UAE available for the Pegasos II, didn't try it so I cannot comment on that.

But, nothing beats a real Amiga to play games on, I only use E-UAE on MOS to play some demo's. I've got an a1200 setup with WHDLoad just for games ;)

OK, I definitely want one but can't afford it just yet  :-(

Just so I can draw up a wishlist, what components are required? The Pegasos is just the mobo and the CPU module, right? So do I need a PCI/APG gfx card? And the RAM is DDR, right? Is that everything?

Cheers for all the info

UAE is too slow for enjoyable gaming. Some games are fast enough but for example Pinball Dreams gets slowdowns sometimes. For original OCS/AGA games I would keep A1200. Newer games from late 90s, especially those using Warp3D, run better and faster.

At least to enjoy MAME, you'll need 512 mb of RAM (PC2100/ DDR266), but you can use PC3200 too.
For Watching demos and "old" Warp3D games with 15/16 bits mode I suggest you a Voodoo 5-5500 AGP.
For graphics apps and Linux, use a Radeon 9000/9000PRO/8500Le/9100/8500. The 8500 with 128mb is the best (choose a compatible AGP 2x/4x card !!).
You can use "old" Tekram SCSI card (and card that use the same chipsets too).
You can add some more USB2 port (at USB1 speed) with a VIA based card.
You can use any of the TV/FM PCI card supported by GREX.
You can add a sound blaster live! if you really need that.
Keep the Faith !

Would a ATI Radeon 8500 All In Wonder work ok? Is that the best card to use with Morphos? It's a 128MB AGP card. I'm thinking of buying up all the smaller parts now and then getting the mobo when I can afford it.

There's a list here of supported chipsets, it looks like a Radeon 8500 will work fine.

Hmmm it was there about an hour and a half ago when I ordered it. It accepted my payment and I got a confirmation. Might give Matthew a call and double check he's got one.
