Did you install the screws through the board into the standoffs?  Because of a slight mismatch, installing the screws on mine just barely twisted the connector enough to prevent it working.

Hi,

@zac67
> I think thats EXACTLY what I said. BTW I still have not seen an a3k battery leak... they are not AS BAD as the others
I have three A3000T boards and two A3000 desktop boards: On two of the three A3000T boards the battery had leaked (one of the boards has got several broken connections by corrosion -- has token several days to repair) one of the A3000 desktop boards is also completely dead because of a leaking battery, the other boards never got the chance to get leaking batteries, I've removed them and replaced them by LI-cells.

That was pierre, not me - I'd never risc a precious A3k by stating their batteries wouldn't leak.

@all
No I have not read all post on this site AND I WON'T.
FOR HEAVEN SAKE... this is a simple tread.
-Yes the cyberstorm MK II works in the a3k with 3.1 rom
-No you don't need to change ANY jumper form the facory default
-It a good idea to take out he battery.
-can they leak in the 3k? yes, (it less likely in a 3k than a 4k...YES YOU SHOULD TAKE IT OUT ANYWAY!)
-did I know that yes...
-are some of you  5 year olds, maybe?
-does it work with 3.0 rom...  unkown? get the 3.1 roms anyway!

I know this worked because I have one and it's working for me.
Sometime I think some of your battery have leaked...If your actualy READ my post you will see that I point out that happens!  Now go have some fun with your miggy, mk?
I am attempting to be at least NICE to other people and not just blurting crap out... YES I have failed to do that from time to time, trust me... nothing but love here.. sorry!!!

:argue:  :bigcry: :knuddel: :lol: :cheers: :bow:

On the battery thing: I had one leaking, luckily I noticed it in time and replaced it by a reasonable brand (Varta) version of the same type (although... I do remember the Varta had only 1 ground pin instead of the 2 pins the original had) as used by Commodore.

Now on the accelerator path....

The A3000 I used to own (my brother has it now, must start annoying him so he gives it back.. ;-) was the lowest available at the time. An 030 at... 16 MHz, an early system as well as it shipped with the kickstart disks, luckily it had the Kick 2.0 ROMS installed as well. It served me well for more than a year or 5. Then I got a good deal on a A3640 accellerator with 25MHz. Unfortunately... It didn't work out of the box. It seemed that some modification to the MoBo was needed. I don't know the exact modification (it had to do with soldering... ) as I ordered an Amiga dealer (Vesalia in Germany) to take care of it. From then on it worked perfectly. So... does it happen that you've got one of the early systems?

Thanks for all the advice folks, at the moment it looks as if my cyberstorm died at some point.

I've replaced the oscillator with a known working one, and examined over the entire surface with a strong magnifying glass.  No damage I didn't know about before, and no little bits of wire/solder/fluff between the legs of any chips/ics.

I've tried reworking every chip, transceiver, capacitor, resistor, resistor pack and transistor on the surface (excluding the big Xilinx one, because the legs are way too close together for me to rework :-P), and the connector slot, and scsi slot solder connections, but no effect.  Haven't done the simm-slot connectors yet.

I've tried it with ram, without ram, with 060, with 040 (changed resistors and voltage, added and removed LT1085 voltage regulator respectively) - no effect.  Have confirmed the 040 and 060 work on different boards.

Have treble checked the jumper settings on the a4000 just to be sure (and have tried on both INT and EXT clock settings).  The cpu gets warm (no more than expected) as do the mach chips, and the big square blocky ones.

The zorro scandoubler outputs a signal, but the screen just stays black - no yellow, green or red screen.  Cannot access the early-boot menu.  Am in the process of building a A2000-A4000 keyboard adapter, so cannot yet advise whether caps-lock light is working.  Don't have an LED handy to check the behaviour of the power light either, bah!

Same behaviour on the a3000.  Haven't got a cpu-board for the a4000 to double check the mobo with at the moment, but will pick one up next weekend.

Any suggestions?

You might find this site about A3640 problems usefull. It tells a thing or two about trouble with 040's in A3000s. It even has a hint to potential SCSI trouble.

{off topic, managed to irritate my brother enough to give me back my old A3000 :-)}
