Blizzard PPC problems
« on: August 13, 2006, 10:08:08 PM »
Hrllo guys: this little board is making me mad. I cant get it to work.
Here is the thing: i have 4 different hdd, all with Amig Os installed on it. As soon as i put the Blizzard PPC (its a 060/240 scsi board) the Workbench doesnt boot anymore.
All i get is a screen telling me this:

Cant create directory RAM:T
MakeDir: packet request type unknown
Cant create directory RAM:Clipboards
MakeDir: packet request type unknown
Cant create directory RAM:ENV
MakeDir: packet request type unknown

I have tried with at least 4 different simms modules. Some of my hdd have 3.1, some have 3.9
It doesnt matter, since i cant get to load wb properly
If i disconnect the Blizzard board, the hdd boots fine

I have cleaned everything on the board, checked and double checked all connections, and i dont seem to find something strange
I have managed to boot without startup-sequence, and the memory of the board is shown on the wb screen, and sysconfig
shows me that there is a board installed, so i guess the board is ok, right?

Anyway, im in a lost path here, so any help will be much appreciatted

Kind Regards
Sebastian

Hi Sebastian, have you installed the correct libraries?
A system disk for your BPPC can be found here:

PowerUP

Hi PG: well, since i cant get to load wb with the card installed (i only reach the screen with the errors i mentioned in my other post), i decided to take out the card, load wb without it, install libraries, put the card back again and give it a try...
Same thing happens: i cant get to load wb with the card installed.
I managed to load wb if i boot without startup sequence, i can see the board´s memory on my wb screen, and sysconfig shows me the board
I just cant get the board to work with any of my Amiga´s configuration hard disks (i have 4 of them)
I tried to install from scratch, but install 3.1 disk doesnt boot if the card is present
Maybe i have to do a fresh clean install without the card, install the libraries and finally install the card??
Im completely lost in here...Oh, BTW, i have 2 other BPPC cards, both are 040. If i put them, all my hard disks boot perfect, even without the 040 libraries installed...

as the harddisk work with other cards, it does unfortunately point to a problem with the card.  :(

@JJ: you think it may be the card, even if i see it as "working" on the early startup menu, and even if i see it "working" on sysconfig when i boot without startup-sequence, and i can even see the memory installed on the card??

"Here is the thing: i have 4 different hdd, all with Amig Os installed on it."

if it is the first time you own a PowerUP card, reinstall a plain OS (3.1 just to test) on one of your HD. (on a boot partition <2GB)

@Framiga: i own 2 other BPPC cards (both are 040, and the one that is making me crazy is a 060), and never had any trouble installing them on a hard disk full of stuff

anyway, when i get home, i will try to install a plain system

You suggest me to install 3.1 without the card installed? Because if i try to install a fresh 3.1 with the card installed, the 3.1 install disk wont boot at all...

it could depends by a bunch of factors and not knowing what its installed on your disks, it would be better to start with a fresh install (i'm thinking about BlizKick, different PPC kernels, 68k libs and such which could bangs with the new 060 CPU)

And yes install 3.1 without the card then install in Libs/ (probably not required with BPPC but.... they doesn't hurts) the full 68K libraries from HERE
