A1200T constantly not booting despite hardware
« on: August 12, 2006, 08:24:47 PM »
I have an A1200T.

It just constantly decides not to boot. You can hear all the hard drives clicking etc. The just black screens.

My current config is:

Apollo1240
Micronik 6860 busboard
Spectrum 24/28 gfx card
3.1 roms, os3.9 bb1 and bb2

So i removed the ide buffer....black screens (TV and monitor)

Removed the apollo...black screens.

This has happened for ages despite the hardware used on it.

Today I have been reinstalling everything and making a nice working machine and then this happens!

and it happens ALL the time.

Why oh why?

Any ideas?

Thanks

Fixed it now by removing everything and rebuilding it step by step. Reseting and booting along the way

May have just beena dodgy connection....

Check your PSU !
If you have under 4.86v on the 5V output, change it nor it won't boot correctly or not at all !
Keep the Faith !

Hi Smiley,
I had a similar problem a while back - turned out a slight bend in the metal of teh tower was causing a slight bend in the motherboard.  Caused all kinds of weird problems.  I replaced - literally - everything, motherboard, psu, floppy drive - everything.  The only thing left from the original config was the physical metal of the tower itself.
An inspection revealed an almost imperceptible bend in the top plane, causing the motherboard to bow.

iirc you're using Infinitiv, right?  It's worth just checking nothing's straining the motherboard.

Regards
