Installing AFA on Workbench 3.9, is a good change?
« on: August 12, 2006, 04:23:15 PM »
I want to know if installing AFA on Workbench 3.9 with a 68060 is recommended or not, i know that optimize some things, but i don't know if it's compatible with all Workbench versions.

Thanks in advance.

I think 060 is OK for AfA_OS. Don't worry to install the software, if something goes wrong just disable it in startup-sequence. So far, my OS3.9 system is stable with latest AfA_OS installed. However you might to disable picture_datatype.exe and ilbm_datatype.exe (by removing them from "AfA_OS_Libs" directory. Even though these files provide transparency for images, this feature is not 100% compatible with other programs.

It's good but prepare for some minor slowdowns..if your '060 is overclocked you're better off

I have AFA running on my WB 3.9, but i have a problem, birdie left to work, i have installed AfA, VisualPrefs, FullPalette, and Birdie, the order of this patchs on my startup:

AddDatatypes
Afa
VisualPrefs
IPrefs
Birdie
FullPalette

On AFA readme says that you must execute it after AddDatatypes and before any graphic patch like VisualPrefs, Birdie, ...
VisualPrefs must be executed before IPrefs, and Birdie after IPrefs, i can't change the order, and birdie don't work, someone have AfA and birdie running on the same computer?

Thanks in advance.

The order of the patches is OK, I would just put FullPalette in front of Birdie.

Does the Birdie work without AfA_OS? Sometimes it helps "Wait 1" command in front of Birdie.
