You can surf on OCS/ECS but it'll only be in 16 colours and I'm not sure it'll be that fast, it's slow enough on AGA :(

If you could find a Zorro 2 RTG card for a good price that'd be your best bet.

Yep, a gfx card will make things easier as you will fit more on the screen.

I have an A2000 with GVP030, 20MB, Picasso II+ and etherbridge. I use AWebAPL34. Not very fast but fast enough.

It's technically possible, but that's about as positive as you can talk about it. Prepare to be pull your hair out because of the painstakingly slow process. I don't even like to surf the web on my A1200 with Blizzard 1260 and 128 MB. Many webpages will not display correctly and the ones that more or less do are far to slow to be usable.
Life sucks. Then you die. Then they throw mud in your face. Then you get eaten by worms. Be happy it happens in that order... My Amiga 1200

That setup will be fine for Aminet. As far as browsers go, your options are IBrowse, AWeb, or Voyager.

I used my 3000 in the same basic configuration to surf aminet for files.  Alternatively, you can always hit their FTP and not even bother with web browsing.

You've got all the needed equipment. So I would say: try it!

It would be enough for using the internet and simple web usage.. like without gfx etc. Gfx-card is must if you want to do even bit more on web, but then you also need more memory in practise.

You can access the aminet without browser too. It would be faster on lowend system. There's tools like adt (aminet download tool) etc. It has search options, reading readmes works and of course downloading the actual file :)

Wow. I'm not even willing to even try to surf anything on the net with my Amiga's. I'm realistic and I'm poor.

While surfing the net on the Amiga is not a great experience, I must say that surfing some sites on my Amiga (which is rather updated) seems just fine. I'm limited to one or two sites simultainiously but you mustn't exaggerate how bad it is. Basic email, irc, sites like a.org and aminet work fine.

Just try it I'd say!

Both my Amiga 4000 and 3000 are on the network and connect to the net via cable.  The 4000 isn't bad, the speed is good but the look is straight out of internet '95.  The 3000 is generally stock but runs fine for downloading in 16 colors.  It did require I fully populate all the on-board zip memory spots with the max memory.  Once the 3000 had lots of memory the net wasn't bad at all.

To refine my previous posting:
- FTP/IRC/Usenet & e-mail work nicely on my Amiga;
- browsing is hell. Even when only visiting Aminet.

It's not because of the lack of colours or the rather low resolution*, but it is só painstakingly slow... Problem is, my main Amiga (A1200) has a huge amount of upgrades, but still uses AGA. Which is a huge bottleneck for browsing. When my budget permits, I am going to upgrade my A3000. With a GFX-card, surfing would be a much nicer experience, about comparable to browsing with IE3/4 on a lowend Pentium 1.

If it's for filetransfers, you should use FTP or the like. Works much smoother.

*I use highres-interlace with full overscan on a 15" CRT. I like the image but it consumes lots of bandwidth, thus amplifying speedproblems while surfing...

Flash, I'm just putting it out there. Just like I tell all the "Fast and the Furious" kiddies that have their little four cylinder soda can cars that think they can push them to the limit and go REALLY REALLY fast. There are limits.

Your Amiga and those cars you have to spend a LOT of money into them to get back any favorable return. Err, I remember trying to surf the web on my PowerMac Quadra 650. I remember trying to use the Microsoft Internet Explorer for Macintosh. That was very, very scary. I just can't imagine trying to use the Amiga "browsers".
