AmigaOne has arrived

Finally! My A1 G4 has arrived. I've made the following discoveries:

1. The C=1942 Monitor can't handle modern graphics cards.
2. I don't know anything about the internal workings of modern computers.
3. I HATE Linux.

On another note, I made some stylized 'A' printouts to glue over the ugly Windoze keys. Now to wait for the OS to go with them.

Some of the gfx cards can go down to 42Hz. maybe that would be agreable for the monitor?

I tried all 3 Linux 'screenmodes.' The two highest are a complete mess and the smallest is still a disaster. It's like overtweaking MonEd on Amiga native screens.

I think it's time to join some AmigaLinux mailing lists...

I can't wait to get OS4 here either!  I've heard that Hyperion is working on having some great XBox games ported at launch time!  Apparantly, even AmigaDE will be shipping with OS4, and anyone who preordered AmigaONE/G4 will be getting a free AmigaAnywhere game bundle!

So you need to get that monitor replaced in a hurry!  Don't worry so much about Linux, just use your old Amiga as much as possible while you still can! Soon, it will be living in the closet (or for some of us, accross a network cable) after OS4 comes out.

I can`t agree more!

I`ve also heard somewhere that AOne-XE is making some sort of "sales impact" as it sells 3 times more compared to Pegasos boards.

what version of linux are you using ? try something a bit more user friendly if u want like mandrake ppc. I use mandrake on my X86 box its pretty nice. There is one advantage ... if u get the linux drivers for your ppc and recompile them for ppc it will be faster than the amigaos4.0 drivers i think . Anyway stick with linux a bit try mandrake ( www.mandrake.com) ok cya

Linux over Windoze anyday.  I've used it, Redhat 8 is on my laptop.  there is a learning curve, but every Linux user is less money in Evil Bill's pocket.
