HDToolbox
« on: July 31, 2006, 11:20:11 PM »
HDToolbox is upset again.
I want to change the boot priority of my hd to 1. It's 0 now and the system tries to boot from the RAD. Upon opening HDToolbox lists the gvpscsi.device. Clicking it reveals my Seagate hd and cd-rom. When I click the hd, I get a requester telling me the disk should be updated because drives have been removed or added. Clicking Update results in HDToolbox error 224, Cannot read disk.
A2000, GVP030/SCSI, KS3.1, OS3.9, BB1 and BB2, Bridgeboard, Picasso II. System is running fine.

Unfortunately, skipping the Update or ignoring the error and clicking the Partition Disk button crashes the computer.

Do not use HDToolbox if you used another program to partition the drive before.

If you used HDInstTool before, stick with it.

If you used an older version of HDToolbox before, use that version now, too. The version of WB 3.1 should be best.

Or try this: http://thomas-rapp.homepage.t-online.de/downloads/changebootpri.lha

Bye,

Thanks Thomas, that little proggy changes it all right. I'm a bit worried about the HDToolbox though. Version 3.1 doesn't show any drives.

if your hd is not shown then you will have to read and define the drive.
go into hdtool box - change drive type - define new
in FileName box, type RAM: in front of drive definitions

then click read configuration this will then read your drive then click ok
this will bring you back into the partioning screen
click save changes to drive
your drive should now be shown

I think in the 3.1 HDToolbox, you would have to change one of the icon tooltypes from "scsi.device" to "gvpscsi.device".

Or start HDToolBox from command line with gvpscsi.device argument.

BTW. do you need the RAD: all the time? If you use it only occasionally, you don't have to have it in devs:. You can mount it when you need and remove it before rebooting with remrad (force) command.
Daily MorphOS user and Amiga active.

This worked. I now could save changes to disk. I can now also use the OS3.9 HDToolbox without trouble.
Thanks a lot everyone!
