« on: July 31, 2006, 03:53:13 PM »
I just installed my csppc on a 4000.... it powers on and the screen just stays black... I put a 030 card on, it works fine... also tried with pressed 060 ...
is the cs-ppc dead?  :boohoo:  :boohoo:

set the jumpers on the mobo (just under the CSPPC) to EXT clock.

As Framiga suggested, check the jumpers on the A4000 mobo. They need to be in the EXT position.

Also don't forget about the IDE chain 30 second delay.

CSPPC also must have some ram installed on in in order to boot. Matching pairs in banks 0 & 2, and 1 & 3 I believe.

jumpers where both to INT, made them to EXT
there is an IDE HD, and on the csppc matching 32MBx4 Simms... still nothing, no ESC or S.... still no-go... :(

Tried the CSPPC on another fast cpu slot equipped amiga?

whatever you do, --DO NOT-- press the 060 NOR the ppc.

Never ever. Jamais. Nunca. Nesuno.

Most times the CSPPC and BPPC can be resurrected. Its only matter of touching her where gets excited.

Could be bad memory.  Try removing and/or reseating a pair of the SIMS and see if you can get the symptoms to change.  Can you get into the preboot menu by holding both mousebuttons on bootup?

the BPPC doesn't needs HD based 68K libs (they are in the firmware) while the CSPPC does.

Use the 030 card to install the libs.

Any IDE unit on the mobbo ide chain will do.

In example, connect an IDE cdrom, as master, your df0, and the csppc. POwer it on and a few seconds later, you have to see the 3.1 rom screen ( if there is not any hardware fault at all )

Dont forget to put both CLK jumpers on EXT position

Anyway, the best way to be sure is to test the CSPPC on another known working amiga hardware.

Keropi is right.  If he's only getting a black screen and no boot, the problem is not the 060 libs.  If he was able to boot, and then got a GURU, then that would be an 060 library problem.
Time to move on.  Bye Amiga.org.  :(
