Think about how long the older generation of Amigas have managed to last - as long as the new  systems are complete, they could still be used for many years.

But if somehow the meteor did hit Hyperion, then I'd probably like to use a Mac as my main computer.

I would keep what I got (Pegasos/MorphOS) for fun, and Windows for work. In the future I would propably follow the development of AROS. OS4? Maybe, if it runs on some of the hardware I allready have in my posession.
MorphOS is Amiga done right! :)

;-) If we take it as a given that the Amiga as we know it is no more, (and that’s a BIG given, by the way,) then I would probably look seriously at Linux.

Hi uncharted,

I am already geared up for the death of the Amiga, I would stay with the Amiga as long as the silicon stayed good. If one of my Amiga's died I would try to find another to take it's place. I own a A1000, CD32, A500, A1200, and A3000, I hope to add more to my collection in the near future.

Now also I also have WinUAE for my PC machines but my main machine would probably be a PC, I would never move over to a Apple product because I want a real computer that you can have at least a little say on how you want it, the good thing about a PC is that you can change its OS from windows to Linux, AmigaDe, or just back to old Dos if you want to. On an apple you have to just about run what they give you. YES I DO HATE WINDBLOWS and only use it because it is the most popular OS on the market, you know the old saying sheep follow the sheep.

By the way you said if the Amiga might die, look the Amiga died right after Gateway sold it as far as I am concerned, I really don't see a way back, the PC just about matches the Amiga in every event except for its shoddy multi tasking. No screen makers, multi tasking doesn't mean your machine slows down if its formatting a disk, or playing music, or printing or saving a file. Multi tasking means your machine will do all the above without jerkiness or stalling or making you wait until something is done.

So you see the Amiga is dead,

Bill M has no clue how to bring it back.

Bill M and Fleecy Moss are nothing but PC winblows users trying to make a buck off the Amiga name.

Bye
Smerf

I have no idea what your talking about, so here is a doggy with a small pancake on his head.

MorphOS is a MAC done a little better

Well, since the original platform has no chance of dying during my lifetime... I already plan to stick with it. As for the new stuff suddenly going poof, it wouldn't break my heart any, since it's really just being done for our benefit. Someone else would just pick up where they left off.

Bring on the Amiga ColdFusion!
- Doc

A4000D, A3640 OC-36.3MHz, custom tower, Mediator A4000D. Diamond Banshee 16M, Indivision AGA 4000, GVP HC+8.

Mac Mini 1.5GHz, that might run MorphOS someday, when the fools who own it come to the realization that 30 minutes just isn\'t enough time to play with it enough to decide whether or not you like it enough to cough up $200.

 - Someone please design SOME kind of DIY accelerator for the A4000. :D -

It would make no difference to me. Id probably just stick with Linux which I am quite happy with and spend more time sailing.
Hate figure.

Debian on my PC
And I'd buy a Mac and run AROS on it with 68k-JIT (We are allowed to dream right?) :-)

A top end Mac laptop with a feature-complete AROS+68k JIT is the ultimate Amiga IMHO anyway.

I would continue using my Amiga collection until every one of them died.....
Then I would design my own system from the ground up - hardware and software.
SunBlade 1000 2x1200mhz UltraSparc III+, 8GB RAM, XVR1000, 73GB and 300GB FC drives, DVD, SunPCi IIIpro - 1GB RAM (yes it does work when I set the clock back to 2009), Solaris 10.

Ultra60 2x450MHz UltraSPARC II, 2GB RAM, 9GB U160 and 36GB U320 drives, CDROM

A1200T, 603e-240mhz/040-50mhz SCSI, 256mb, MediatorSX, Voodoo3-3000, Soundblaster 128, 10/100 Ethernet, other stuff OS3.9
