Merging two audio outputs
« on: July 17, 2006, 08:57:13 PM »
Hi,
my A1200 has now more than 1 audio output from different devices (Paula and Delfina). I have a Y splitter audio cable adapter, so can i use this to merge the output from both devices into one amplifier input? Or is it going to damage the  Amiga in any way?
Or should i use different cables for each device connecting to amp? Separate hardware mixer would be overkill i quess, money wise.
Thanks.

Connecting bolth audio outputs to one sterio cable is not a good idea. It can cause unwanted signals to be forced back into the outputs. Your only inexspencive option if you want to be able to hear both at the same time is to get computer speaker system that has two inputs and use them as they will alow you to hear both sterio signals at the same time. Altec Lancing has several that do and so do Yamaha and some of the higher end Logitec speaker systems. You can sometimes get small mixers on ebay that would also do a great job like .this or This oneand also This one
Amiga 2000HD Indivision ECS
Amiga 4000D towerised OS 3.1 and 3.9 on CF cards
Indivision AGA, Mediator 4000
Video Toaster 4000 Flyer v4.3 Millenium.
202gig of video drive space & 5gig audio.
