TD64 and NSDPatch using MOS for PowerUP
« on: July 15, 2006, 12:43:14 PM »
Hi All,

i'm using since a while, MOS for PowerUP on an A4000D with internal IDE and UWSCSI HDs.

MOS' cybppc.device 50.x is TD64. On the same machine i have AmigaOS3.9BB2 as well that uses the 68K cybppc.device.

Now.... from the AmigaOS side, its better to leave cybppc.device as TD64 OR patch it with NSDPatch? (in Devs:NSDPatch.conf)

I'm asking this because MOS and AmigaOS, shares/writes/reads all the partition i have onto my system.

Thanks in advance :-)

PS- ah... and if i change from TD64 to NSD (AmigaOS), i have to reformat? (SFS and PFS3 here)

To my knowlege both are identical from the filesystem perspective, but I'd use TD64 on both (cybppc.device has TD64 natively on both systems).

ok Piru Thanks.

What i need to know is ... seen that quite all my not-boot partitions were formatted from AmigsOS side NSDPatched, it would be better refomat it because they are now TD64?

I never have had to reformat because of that, but give it a go with single partition first.

my only "doubt" are the differences in the NSD commands (device wise).

I'm experinced huge fragmentation on SFS.

Anyway thanks a lot for the replies :-)

What is the NSDPatch used for?  Is it still relative for MOS
and OS3.9 with BB2?  Just curious.

its only related to AmigaOS.

AmigaOS3.5 and 3.9 have it built-in. On amigaOS3.0/1 is available separately (on Aminet)

It stay for New Style Device and its used for better compliance with some old devices (i.e for use the old scsi.device with FFS over the 4GB barrier)

erm... better to give you the URL of the package :-)
