« on: July 14, 2006, 09:43:07 PM »
Hi. I also got one! 8-) Does anyone knows where to get an adapter that to allow connecting an aerial 75ohm coaxial cable to it? The antenna input is just weird!!

Look at your local fleamarket for old ISA (and PCI) TV-crads. Sometimes they have this adapter too.

Your local TV-vendor could have this adapter also.

Perhaps soldering the antenna-cable to a cinch connector could also solve the problem.

@ Jose

Here is the adapter closeup with dimensions in mm:

And here is a problem for us A4000T owners:

The yellow arrow points to the hole in the PIV backplane that leads to the antenna-in of the Paloma. The two red arrows point to the part of the A4KT case that gets in the way of the thicker part of the adapter. You will have to grind that lip away if you want to use the above adapter.

I tried to find an adapter with a longer stem, but couldn't. Then I tried to find any kind of connector with the small RCA-style male connection as seen in the first picture. The central post of the connector is only 2.33mm wide, unlike an RCA connector which is more than 3mm. The central post of that connector protrudes only 1.15mm from the adapter. The overall length of the adapter is therefore 43.15mm (42mm if you only count the outer casing).
If you find one let me know where you got it because I want a spare to modify.

Why not just make up your own cable? Phono (RCA) plug on one end TV RF socket on the other end, bit of COAX cable in between. Would cost you about £1 from Maplin electronics.

Just feed the cable through the hole in the back plate before connecting the TV RF connector.

Oops. Re-Read. Are you sure that it is a non-standard connector and not an regular phono/RCA connector?

@ Alexh

Ja, I am very sure. That is the first thing I tried, an RCA male connector. I double-checked all of this with digital calipers.

Hi. Yes! That is precisely my problem, only that I don't have the adapter to modify in the first place. Couldn't find the smaller RCA connector either... :-x
