@ all

Not sure how legal this is or if it's even true, but an IT dev bloke in my corp claims to have a hacked vers of OS4 that runs under PearPC emulator in windows!

I don't think it's legal (unless he legally acquired OS4) but it's certainly possible.  There have been hacked versions of OS4 floating around for ages which run on non-Eyetech hardware, and Mac OS X runs on Pear PC so there's no reason OS4 wouldn't too.

Lando: by non-eyetech hardware do you mean a Pegasos? or ???  It would be interesting to see PearPC running AOS4.. but without pics I'd dismiss it as B.S.

I agree, Show It! I've heard this a few times now, not seen any evidence of it. Not the mention the specs of the PC running PEAR and the benchmarks of Amigs OS 4 on said system.

He claims it runs under Windos OS.
I don't know him personally, but I found it interesting none the less. Obviously under emulation it can't be as fast, but it's still impressive to think about.

I seen the PPC OS4 thingy on p2p somewhere, maybe eDonkey??

Downloaded it, but i didnt run it as a few things looked a bit dodgy?

Maybe some other person? could try it first??

I don't think you're allowed to just download it.  You have to buy it (ok, it's not possible to buy it either but that's Hyperion's decision - if they don't want to allow people to buy their OS, it still doesn't mean you can download it legally).

But for people who bought an AmigaOne and a legit copy of OS4, or if their AmigaOne has died and they're stuck with a copy of OS4 that they can't use, the non-restricted version would be very useful as they could then run it on a Pegasos or on Windows under PearPC.

Ther is another ppc emulator named gemu and it's, for me, better than pearpc. Search "powerpc emulator" on google for the link...

Regarding Pearpc...I think that os4 don't run because ther isn't uboot.

So basically you're saying that OS4 has drivers for Mac hardware. That's new...










Seriously now, neither pearpc or qemu emulate AmigaOne HW, thus OS4 will not run on them unless if someone does one of the following:

a) Add Mac (or qemu reported device) hw drivers to OS4
or b) Adjust pearpc or qemu to emulate AmigaOne HW.

Adam Kowalczyk from ACK has already confirmed that he got OS4 running under QEMU.
