WANTED: A4000 Parts
« on: July 12, 2006, 05:34:16 PM »
Hello Everyone:

I decided to make this into a new post because it really was off-topic in my previous post.

Earlier this week I recieved some parts for an A4000 Rev B system.  I have 2 mainboards which I DO NOT know if they function or not at this time.  I also received a case which is not complete.  We have tested the Power Supply I received under load and the voltages all look good.

What I need is the following:

Urgent-- so I can test the mainboards is at least A3640 processor card.

otherwise looking for:

1. Keyboard
2. Internal Case structure parts including drive tower (Would like a complete case if possible)
3. 2nd Floppy drive front cover (my front is non-yellowed completely :))
4. daughterboard (riser with slots)

As most of you know, I am starting up a service for Amigas (as well as other retro computers) and so if you can donate any of these parts, I would be eternally grateful... but because these are A4000 parts, let me know what you need via PMAIL if you would like to sell them and please include shipping to 64055 USA.  If you have a Warp Engine, please PMAIL me as well!  I ,of course, am willing to pay shipping on donated parts, just PMAIL me with the cost.

Thanks and I hope someone can help me locate these parts so vendors -- let me know as well!

NOTE:  If in the Kansas City Metropolitan Area -- I will be willing to pickup the parts!

Why does it have to be a A3640?

@doctorq

I suppose it doesn't?  Maybe my ignorance there, but I thought that an A3640 would be the card that came with the A4000 Rev B.

@Everyone

If this is not the case, then all I need is the proper Processor Card to test the machine.

No, the A4000s came with either a A3630 or a A3640. It might be easier to get hold of a A3630, and the A3640 have some design errors.

As far as I'm aware, the motherboard revision has nothing to do with how the machine was configured when shipped.

3630 boards are still relatively common and inexpensive - some dealers might even still have some.

I do appreciate the feedback.  My immediate goal is to acquire a processor card to test the two main boards.  Beyond that, if they work... then I am more ready for the other parts.  But the main goal will be to build a good A4000 should the boards be sound :-)

I think therefore, that if I buy a processor board from a vendor or an individual, it would be wise to buy one that would be used in the final build IMO.

So anyhow, I think that if you have the parts I listed and are interested in selling or donating (per my original post), please let me know.

Thanks,

Well I have a spare daughterboard you may have for free.
But I am from the Netherlands so postage would be pricey I guess.
Maybe I'll even have an floppycover and a "driverack" got to check that out.
But as I said it is quite a distance so it would cost you much on postage.

You may have to bite the bullet and buy a A4000 CPU card from ebay or such, since these usually are not as common as other CPU cards on the Amiga...  Good luck getting one for free...

@tjlazer

As I stated, donations are accepted, however I am willing to buy the card.

@everyone

I don't deal with ebay right now, I am feeling a bit burnt from my last selling experience (this was an automobile and the listings are uber expensive for insertion fees).

So if you have any of the parts to sell, please PMAIL me before you list them as I will entertain reasonable pricing and it may then save you a listing fee :-)

Thanks,

Mike

Well, he should be able to get a A3630 or A3640 for around 20-25 EURO. A WarpEngine would most likely cost 3-5 times as much.

-EDIT-

If you haven't gotten hold of a CPU card in a couple of weeks, send me a PM. Have a A3630 I use for testing, but don't use it much these days. Have a spare daughterboard or two as well.
