Benchmark programs seem to crash my Amiga!
« on: July 04, 2006, 05:53:22 PM »
Hmm... just tried 3 different benchmark programs on my Amiga/Apollo 1260, all of them seem to crash.  SysInfo gets as far as showing MIPS as 23.65 or something like that, so I'm guessing something to do with floating point calculations is doing it.

I've tried SysInfo, AIBB and SSspeed.  Can anyone suggest any others to try?  Or any suggestions as to what's making it crash and how to fix it?

I never write anything that won\\\'t run on a stock A1200.  That\\\'s the Jigsaw Lounge Guarantee.

That's the one I just tried.  Put one too many S's in it, sorry...

There is a known issue with SysInfo. Do a "version exec.library" and paste the result.
Anyway, you shouldn't worry about this benchmark program since it's old and obsolete.

Most of the benchmark programs were made for the Amiga years before eccelorators came out and will crash the Amiga if ran and generaly do not give you the true results.
Amiga 2000HD Indivision ECS
Amiga 4000D towerised OS 3.1 and 3.9 on CF cards
Indivision AGA, Mediator 4000
Video Toaster 4000 Flyer v4.3 Millenium.
202gig of video drive space & 5gig audio.

You need the 68060.library supplied with the card in LIBS: If you are running 3.0 or 3.1, you also need the dummy 68040.library installed in LIBS: (should come with the 68060.library). The dummy library (very small compared to the normal 68040.library) is needed as the SetPatch which comes with 3.0 or 3.1 doesn't recognize a 060 nor 68060.library. 68060.library will then be loaded by this dummy 68040.library.

It could be that you are using the wrong libs.
Dont use Phase5 libs, they wont work.
It could also be that your mainboard has timing bugs, check out:
