Boy oh boy oh boy...............do You see the possibilities? Goodness.............just imagine me Doing a SCALA/Powerpoint Presentation out of my pocket..with an attached USB harddrive or even 1gb Thumb drive!

Tsk Tsk Tsk!  this is where Amiga could have been....... way ahead and all!

this reallllllyyyyy ticks me off.

http://gp2x.co.uk/gp2xbreakoutboard.html

it has 720 x 480 resolution and S-Video out to connect to a TV or Projector.
Sooooo Freaking simple to do.

THis just may be my next machine when I abandon Amiga finally.

CD32 is actually the best Amiga ever made by Commodore!...

I proposed the same thing for a Gamecube but nobody thought it could be done cheaply.  The GC's parallel port can move data at 81MB/s.  I wouldn't complain about a 487.5Mhz PPC Amiga with 40MB of RAM for about $150 total.

IIRC, you posted questioning the possibility of porting OS4 to the GameCube. I don't think that's what Leirbag is suggesting. He is just saying that this kind of portable multimedia machine is what Amiga could have been today.

Wouldn't a proper Laptop be a better idea?

----------------------------------------------------------

No......and I will tell you why...............................what is every company trying to do right now?

Making Palm Tops............shrinking that Laptop intio a PDA size............thats the future.............with Keyboard that roll into your pocket.

Sure An Amiga Laptop would be highly desirable...but I am so sure they wopuld screw that up beyong belief.

I personally believe the Amiga should always be at the forefront of VIDEO.................so an "Amiga Laptop"  would actually be a console with HDTV LCD screen, shaped exactly like a laptop..............but Native Video OUT would be COMPONENT HDTV and S-VIDEO  at highter than 1080i or 1080p

CD32 is actually the best Amiga ever made by Commodore!...

No, I mean for whatever task you want to do with it... A Cheap MacBook can display HD 720p (the 17" MBP can do better than 1080p). I've done the PDA thing, it's good but they loose out to Multifunction Entertainment devices (iPod, PSP, etc...).

AMiGA Inc. dropped the ball long ago... time to forget about it and move on.

@bloodline

Sorry..........but Mac or PC's still cant do Video Properly

so so so sad.................but at the same time encouraging to see Amiga is still the solution.

THats why I havent moved on to PowerPoint and still use SCALA.

I occasionally do PowerPoint Jobs for Hotels, Night clubs and events and such...............and let me tell you...................Amiga can do all of it pretty much........and so much better in many cases.

Unbelievably amazing and encouraging at the same time.....it confirms my reason for having an Amiga.

its a constant reminder to keep it.

and Yes Amiga "Dropped the Ball"  probably..............that doesnt mean the AMiga concept should die.......on the contrary............being wehat I see today and how Macs and PC's are imitating the Amiga right now as we speak...........constantly..................................then it just show how much of an open Window a NEW Amiga still has.

Windows Vista and OSX  are still playing with Public Screens...............none do it like the Amiga as well as the Amiga..............sure they have nice special effects and transistions............but Have the Amiga add that too and it remains king.

CD32 is actually the best Amiga ever made by Commodore!...

Well if you read the last 15 pages of my thread, I pretty much had given up on OS4 and was more into a more personal and portable platform based on AROS.  A device such as this for a console guarrantees highly available hardware.  As for storage, USB flash and SD cards are the future.

Imagine carrying around a "LIVE" disc for your console port of choice and an SD card for storage and settings.  An indash LCD hooked up to a Wii (which is the size of a 1 din car stereo) makes it an auto-OS as well.  Now that's mobile...auto-mobile.   :-D
