"That's weird. I wonder why it didn't work. Did you set clock jumpers to INT?"

that simple.... because there are 2 versions of A4000CR.

The one i tryed was without the 030 CPU soldered (very rare) and hence withouth the 50Mhz cristal.

Other than that, even if i understand that it was the last A4000 mobo produced, i don't find it a great deal (other small issue on Zorro autoconfig as well)

Anyway is a matter of choise/taste. I would never swap a revB with a CR one :-)

I know, I know - but if anyone does have one or sees one on ebay then at least I am asking the right people !

Tall order indeed but surely, somewhere there must be one ?  Come everyone, check those cupboards again !

Still hoping ...

PS - Do you think an Amiga 1200 PPC 603, Bvsion 3d, Tower system would be a good buy at £250 ?  Power Computing Tower I think.

Hi, I may be able to help (slim chance), I have done a big pc network upgrade for a local business who have asked me to remove their old amiga 3000 & 4000 computers. I have no idea exactly what hardware there is but i know there is at least one 4000/040 (i think) and one 3000.
If you could tell me where to find any revision data or relevant information I will gladly give you the spec to see if it is what you are after??? Other than that i think they were heading for the skip!
Let me know if this could be of interest??

I am based in the UK by the way.

@rojacop

OMG the skip!!
Are they mad?

Tell them about here! they could get money for AMIGA gear. Mind you most of it these days is too expensive for what it is, There will be a lot of interest in it regardless.

I don't understand why companies throw out this stuff!!
It's not the question, that is the problem, it is the problem, that is the question.

For your information if you happen to locate a discolored yellow machine you can by using a special paint spray the front panels very successfully. I have got this done professionally to several of my 4000 desktops and I cannot tell the difference between a painted one and a unpainted one. They come up like a brand new machine! Kind regards Chris

That's how I got my A4000D... Paid the guy $25 for it. Poor b*st*rd. Now sitting comfortably inside a spankin new Antec tower with an also spankin new Mediator 4000D busboard. :-D

A4000D, A3640 OC-36.3MHz, custom tower, Mediator A4000D. Diamond Banshee 16M, Indivision AGA 4000, GVP HC+8.

Mac Mini 1.5GHz, that might run MorphOS someday, when the fools who own it come to the realization that 30 minutes just isn\'t enough time to play with it enough to decide whether or not you like it enough to cough up $200.

 - Someone please design SOME kind of DIY accelerator for the A4000. :D -

Hi there

Thank you for the info - yes, I would be interested.  I am happy with any spec and am open-minded.  Please let me know what you find !

Also, can you advise if the machine is boxed (slim chance I know) or not and if there is any yellowing on the front panel ?

Thanks again - I hope to hear from you soon !!! :-)

Best Regards

Retromania

PS - I am in the UK too !

If I were you I would dig out the old Paypal receipt and send a friendly email to the guy you sold your A4000 to.

I would casually ask him if you could buy it back!

Obviously if you buyer was a diehard addict like us then you probably wont be in luck.

However if it was an impulse buy for a nostalgic ex Amigan he may have taken it out of the box once or twice and may now be secretly wishing he hadn't won it.

Failing this;

Some brand new unopened A500s turned up in Australia recently  and I saw an A2000 that had been stored at a dealer for 25 years - box opened but never taken out of its poly.

Needless to say they all went for sky high prices.

Good luck!

I would just try and get what you can at this point in time!  As you know it is hard trying to find a nice A4000 unit, especially in the EU!  I have four Mint A4000 desktops and one has it's original box which has seen better days.  I doubt I would be able to, or even want to, try to find and buy a mint A4000 unit in the box today!  It would easily fetch over a $1000 US for it surely!  If I were you I would get the best A4000 you can and if the face is in bad shape simply repaint it or just try to get a new one (seen them on ebay for cheap really)  Just make sure the battery has NOT leaked on the board or you will have no RTC (battery backed up time) cabability.  Even with that the machine should work ok unless it has severe leakage.  If that was the case you can expect Fast RAM problems or even worse-dead machine.  Good luck.
Going Bananas over AMIGAs since 1987...

Looking for Fusion Fourty PNG ROMs V3.4?

Thanks for the advice.  This is basically what I am doing now.

What a way to learn a lesson huh - sell a pristine machine and regret it the day after !  Doh !!! :-(
