Who here is from the Pacific Northwest US?
« on: June 26, 2006, 05:37:31 AM »
I'm up in Vancouver, WA. Near Portland Ore.

I used to be the President of the Vancouver Amiga Users Group years ago. (And President of the Vancouver Commodore Users Group before that.)

I see all these "Who's near here?" threads so I'm wondering how many Yankies we have here, and if any are on my side of the continent. ;)

Anything left of the Amiga club in Vancouver/Portland area?  I'll eventually be out there for Papa Murphy Franchise Classes, wouldn't mind stopping by for a visit if the club is still active.

A couple years ago somebody started a Google map showing worldwide Amiga users. The last time I looked at it, it showed the location of over 2000 users. I wonder if the page is still there. I recall seeing about 10 users in your "Pacific Northwest". (... south of our "Pacific Southwest" ;-))

@Dammy, I haven't talked to any of the guys from the old Amiga group in years, so I'm not sure. I'll check the local Computer Bits magazine and see if they've got a listing in there. It had dwindled down a bit after I stepped down. There were only about 5 of us left at the time.

So how much does it cost to get into the Pappa Murphys franchise business? ;)

Min investment (according to them) is ~$150K, but I think it can be done alot cheaper.  We shall see.  After 17 years in the pizza biz, I'm ready for being the owner and not the worker.  As I'm waiting for Florida to open up, working nearly none stop (just worked 7 days straight, but I've worked 13 days straight before) for USPS as a rural sub carrier.  That'll keep me busy till I can franchise.  Even then, I have offers from folks who want to be my manager.  Time will tell.

@ mr_a500

I remember that. Is this the one you're talking about?

Funny thing is, I don't think you can see the page with a current amiga browser. I can't with mine anyway. I used IE.

Hrmmm, nobody registered in Washington at Frappr... and when I tried to refresh the list and zoom in the script failed on the web site.

Oh well ;)

I don't think there are enough Amiga users in the Vancouver/Kelso/Longview and surrounding areas to justify a users group anymore, but there might be enough "Retro Computer Users" in general to start a group of geeks. ;)

I might have to look into that sometime.

All right a fellow pizza lover. Any tips for a better dough?
I have my own recipes and they taste great, but I need a better rise when cooking the pie.

Sorry everyone. I'm way off topic, but when you say pizza, I just can't help myself.

What part of Florida? I travel through a couple of times a year. Open a good pizza place along my route, and I may have to drop by.
