Has Anyone Tried To Buy Amiga Merchandise From This Guy?
« on: June 23, 2006, 05:21:27 AM »
About 7 weeks ago, there was a user on this website called Bark40oz.  He posted messages claiming he had come into a lot of Amiga merchadise and wanted to sell it.  So, I contacted him and said he happened to have some Amiga hardware I was looking for. I then sent him money (regreting this decision).  Now its 7 weeks later and except for 1 email from him, he has not sent anything to me.

Has anyone had a similar situation?  His name is Eldridge Henley from Colorado.  I want to give this guy the benefit of the doubt, but I am not optimistic.

Just wanted to ask and warn anyone who happens to see this guy's name out there (on ebay or another website selling stuff).

@Miked

I arranged a deal with him as well, and haven't received anything either. Anyway, after finding out he had been banned from amiga.org I opened a dispute through PayPal. He didn't reply to the requests from PayPal, so the dispute was settled to my favour.

Unfortunately I couldn't get all my money back, and this is one of the lame points about using PayPal; they close the users account! How the hell can I ever get the rest of my money back when they close his account??  :insane:

Unfortunately, I did not use Paypal.  I did, however, file mail fraud charges with the US Post Office.  We'll see what happens.

Money orders can be traced and mail fraud charges filed against that scumbag.

Go to usps or do a search for usps mail fraud.

I am a major dealer on ebay and have fought and won against people.

Pm me for some other hits , I dont want to make them public
as he might read them.

Seems to be a repeat scammer.  The name Bark40oz links to the name Will Henley, DOB April 12 1980 here.  Location Colorado, also here.

A Will henley is reported as a scammer here and the reporter also leaves a mailing address (or part of one) - seems the person also goes by some other names (Aaron Lewis, Keith Buff).

Could all be made up names, but keep digging and linking the details: you're bound to find some decent contact details for him/her.

Hope you get your cash back.

Regards

Rich

EDIT: it seems some other people on the last site I linked to (Neo-Geo.com) are really pi55ed off with this guy, and have his mailing address details (the user provile gives the same DOB as the user profile linking the names "Will Henley" and "Bark40oz") - it's probably worth PMing the people on that site to try to get more details.

Hello Amiga peoples.

I am a member of Neo-Geo.com, posting here regarding bark40oz, aka Will Henley and a lot of other aliases. He is still actively scamming members of NG.com and other forums.

We are organizing all the information we can get about Will so that the appropriate charges can be filed. At the very least, he's looking at mail fraud, which is pretty serious.

So if you were scammed by will, please post in the thread we created HERE. The more info you can include, the better. Please help us put an end to this individuals habitual (4+ years) of theivery.

Regards,
Charles

In 2006, Mr. Eldrigde Henley, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, aggreed to pay me $112.60 for assortment of Amiga games plus two laptop harddrives. According to my local US Post Office Inspector, he received the items, but the US Postal Service cannot prosecute him! As of this writing, Mr. Henley made no attempt to pay me for the items I sent him. Best thing in my opinion, is to notify the Colorado Springs lawenforcement and also the State of Colorado prosecuting attorney. Very sad indeed!....Tony

I hope they put a stop to him!  Really sad that he has to resort to this to make $$.  He must be doing it on every level if you think about it.  Surely vintage warez do not bring in enough to risk it.  Then again who knows.  Really sad.
Going Bananas over AMIGAs since 1987...
