Doomy flogging A3000T on eBay
« on: June 22, 2006, 02:04:15 AM »
link removed by admin.  Please stop helping this guy screw people over by linking and even promoting his auctions for him.  He is persona-non-gratis here.

Looks in good nick from the picture...

But feedback rating 94 odd %....

Anyway, as a complete aside, no-one in the UK wants to trade an A4000T or A3000T with me do they? I have a heap of cool stuff I could trade (including Bilzzard 1260, 1230, A1200s, A600s, A630 accel, etc)
I like Amigas

Yes a very nice A3000T indeed.  But be careful as it is not a complete unit.  There are probably lots of parts missiing so it will not work out the box.

link removed by admin - Please stop helping this unsavory individual to defraud other AO users by discussing and posting links to his auctions.

Yeah its not complete, look at the floppy bays, there are no drives in them at all,
no battery (so no backed up clock),
he doesnt give postage ("Questions about shipping will not be answered.")
And no fast ram at all.
There was a much nicer A3000T that finished a few days ago no bids at $300.

"Winning high bidder agrees to pay the actual UPS shipping, the cost of packing materials, and the eBay fees."

Uh, there's a slight problem there. Ebay policies prohibit charging back Ebay, Paypal, etc. fees to the buyer. So now everybody take a few minutes to report him to Ebay for the Listing Policy Breach, Circumvention of Ebay Fees, by Surchages. (Hint: Click on "Help" and then "Contact Us" and the above will make sense).

It's one of the things I dislike, along with those who start an auction or a buy it now for a memory chip at $0.01 with shipping and handling of $19.99 ! I report them as well when I stumble upon their link looking for what I'm after. I don't mind paying reasonable shipping and handling... gas to drive to the post office is getting expensive these days. But some people take it too far.

-David

Edit: Appologies to the Seller for reading this and taking it personally ... That was not my intention. This is not an attack against the seller, but rather an encouragement to all Ebayers to regularily report such policy violations against ANY SELLER to Ebay. If nobody speaks up, nothing can be done about it.

However.. it's not against ebay policy to offer a discount on shipping and handling if you don't use paypal.  Or they could just have nebulous "handling charges".. which I'm sure they'll change it to after you report them.  The only difference is you'll probably pay more in the end as the seller will now have to estimate more than the average paypal fee in handling charges before listing.

Semantics I know - but ebay specifically prohibiting you to pass on charges from a company they own (while leaving you free to pass on fees from any other online payment service).. sucks.

People who charge high shipping and handling while having a low listing price are just avoiding being screwed over by ebay's fees (which are only getting higher.. and with paypal charges they are double and triple dipping).  I wouldn't do it myself, but I can see why they do it and I don't see why you care about defending ebay's profits.
