Uhm, how to put this nicely: You're perhaps reading a bit too much to standard corporate reply? Or perhaps: Not in a million years.

Such things as "If Commodore wants to get into the PC business then, it would certainly be cheaper to liscense an OS like OS4 for their product than it would be to try and develop it on their own." (eh, why would anyone develop their own OS!?), "The Amiga has many good things going for it right now." and "I received a similar e-mail 4 months ago. I think that they are interested." ...makes you really wonder if the posters really are serious about this.

Oh I forgot, that's aw.net.

No. If you would have at least a little bit of experience with company emails or corporate business, you would know that this is just a bog-standard way of saying "Thanks, not interested.".

But please, I don't want to stop you from getting excited again over some meaningless and unrealistic BS.

Yep. They have lots of these threads at the moment. Check out this one.
"Amiga-Commodore-Motorola maybe?"
Motorola has a mobile called A1200! Will they buy Amiga Inc. and port OS4 to it? How excititng!!!1!!

I must admit that my nostalgic feelings for the era almost had me consider this to be a realistic coupling of companies.

Almost. But then the rational part of my brain kicked in and I realized it'll never happen. And even if it did happen (and it won't) it still wouldn't be anywhere near the same as 'the good old days'.

Sadly the pioneering days of computing are now squarely in the past and no matter how much one might want them back, they are not going to return.

And thus I'll just have some hobbyist fun with my legion of Commodore computers (Both 8 and 16/32 bit versions) and look favourably on retro-gear like the C64DTV and the Minimig. Expecting anything else to happen at this time is not realistic and will only end in dissapointment.

And what you think about this:

Dear Davide,

Yes, we are talking to Amiga but I can’t give details at this moment. Please follow our steps. More information will be announced in September!

Thanks!

It shows that they are at least slightly more creative than the "two more weeks" OS4-gang.

No it isn't, but it isn't confirming OS4 hardware either.

Just talking to someone doesn't mean anything, nor does it automagically mean that some kind of agreement would be made.

Then again, it leaves you the impression that something might happen there. It tells you to follow their steps. It might generate tons of speculation and buzz.

That isn't standard reply, it's good PR. It's just that no amiga related company knows how to make that anymore... ;-)

Yes, supposedly since the end of 2004, but nobody has seen anything of it yet, not even a photo. Well in Troikas case only a photo that was copied and cropped from a presentation-pdf from Freescale.
Amiga users are just so easy to fool around, especially if they are as naive as you are. The more desperate Amigans become, the more easy they will fall for hoaxes and unrealistic pipe dreams.

Sure, I forgot about ACK, who did around 15 announcements that were not met in a single case.

Sadly, the only new hardware we can realistically expect with the information we have now is the Minimig. Which, while a very cool bit of kit that I'd love to have, is not OS4 hardware.

Perhaps I'm too negative, but I've waited for the 'new amiga' since 1994 and it still hasn't happened*. I'm thinking it won't.

*) A-Ones & Pegasos don't really count. The former because it's not actually available, the later because it's not actually running Amiga OS.

Only when you believe what Rogue says. He certainly is interested that people "hang on" and believe that there is something happening "pretty soon now". Otherwise there would be even more people leaving. But at a certain point it's just enough.
