Are there any Amiga speech syntesis audio files?
« on: June 19, 2006, 01:30:50 PM »
Hello to everybody.

I had recently updated Wikipedia with infos about built in Speech Synthesizer of Amiga.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amiga

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AmigaOS

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Speech_Synthesis

I want to know if there are some on-line Amiga or better PC audio files about speech synthesis to enhance the articles and preserve this memory into wikimedia.

In the specific I am looking for:

"This is the voice of Amiga Speaking" in both MALE and FEMALE versions

And also complete audio file output of DIR > Speak: df0: ALL

(where disk in df0: is Workbench 1.3)

I could made it by myself with my Amigas but I don't know how to record output of Amiga from double RCA form factor STEREO connectors to Speaker mini-din connector of PC to capture it all, because I don't own any audio RCA2Speaker connectors gender-changer cable.

So all my requests are about three audio files:

1) "This is the voice of Amiga Speaking" with male voice

2) "This is the voice of Amiga Speaking" female voice

3) audio file of amigaprompt:>DIR >Speak: Df0: ALL

files should be clear, good sounding, correct speed and pitch rate, 8 or better 16 bit audio, amiga or better PC compatible, to be listen by anyone visiting wikipedia.

If you want to upload it by yourself on wikipedia or wikimedia, please advice me in before you submit, to discuss about quality of files.

Also you must declare that files are made by you who owns original workbench 1.3 disks and that you release it for fair use.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Upload

Thanks in anticipation.

Ciao,

RAffaele

Yep and you totaly f**cked it up. Please get your Informations right or simply leave them alone.
Just a small hint (which would have been your first visit if you would have had serious interest
in speech synthesis on computers) here. Those where the people behind
the narrator.device for Amiga OS.

In fact, at its launch in 1984, the Macintosh© announced its own existence to the public using our software, the original "MacinTalk"

which obvioulsy predates the Amiga OS. And if this is not enough, they also made S.A.M which started arround 1979, but
was not part of an operatings system though.
The only thing maybe valid is that Amigas speech engine was the first wide popular used, but definitly not the first.
So rush rush, go and fix it!

To avoid being accused I am too lazy, I just started correcting wiki Speech_synthesis while I am expecting for the files, but one amigo friend into amigaworld (where I launched similar thread) just suggested me an Amiga program which saves Speak: output to 8svx sample audio file.

I think I could use this program to catch things I want to record.
