Just FYI:  I would also like to see FireFox ported to Amiga and actually researched undertaking the process of doing it myself (as Firefox is open source) so I downloaded the code and began looking into it.   While I don't think it would be impossible, It is more effort than I myself want to put into because IIRC you would have to rewrite the graphics routines for the OS because Amiga does not use X-Windows.  I hate the idea of having to find a way to run X ontop of the AmigaOS (like openoffice for Mac has to do).

It is a monster undertaking.  Then of course, once someone decides to do this, they will have to support the offshoot - again I am not prepared for that kind of undertaking.

But It could be done if someone has their heart in it.

@IrishMike

Like Tomazkid said, you could join the Amizilla team. They are making progress and would welcome any developers that are interested. Here is their sourceforge page. Also, of interest is the campaign page.

@all
If you're interested in seeing FireFox ported, consider donating on the Amizilla campaign page. It's a mammoth task and the developers need as much encouragement as possible.

There is an X-windows server for Amiga. OpenOffice.org uses the native GUI now on the Mac.

And using an X-windows server is a good stepping stone towards a fully native port. It's more than just the GUI that needs to be ported. Using an X-server as an interim allows you to get the rest of the app running natively without having to worry about the GUI. The GUI can then be done later, once the rest of the app works.
