I was thinking the same exact thing.  In some ways Bose is to speakers what IBM was to computers.  Inferior product with superior marketing and advertising.

I agree that Bose is not by any means the best speaker in the world, but they do sound good for home theater.

At least MS have not tied their OS to obsolete junky unavailable hardware and Amiga companies go well under the rader when it comes to garbage.

Apparently whomever wrote this article hasn't heard of Elbox, also known as the fine distributors of RDB-erasing drivers.

At worst, MS product registration is a plastic hassle, not a deliberate attempt to destroy your data.
Back away from the EU-SSR!

Anyway, M$ is used grudgingly, regardless of trust.

Even if Bose don't sound very good ($AU1000 for 3 inch paper cones?), at least the products can be relied upon to perform as expected, and I'm not aware of the company being involved in any really underhanded business dealings.  From my point of view, I have no reason not to trust Bose, or their products, it's just that they don't do/make anything that I want.  Conversely, a company like KRK make some speakers I could really use, but I don't trust them at all, because they've been known to shaft their Australian customers.
Good good study, day day up!
