Formatting floppy's
« on: May 25, 2006, 09:28:13 PM »
I've been fiddling around with Crossdos, and was wondering if there is a program for Windows Xp that allows me to format 720k floppy's?

Cheers,
Sigurd

you can do it from a dos prompt but i don't remember the parametres. if the disks are 1.44mb you can put a sticker to cover the hole at the left.

If i am going to have bugs on my system,
at least let me keep the latest versions.

@ Kvist

Open a command prompt and type:

format a: /t:80 /n:9

Disk must either be a real DD 720k, or a HD 1,44mb that has the hole taped over.

There isn't a way of doing this with not so much hassle?
I have a lot of disk's so it would mean alot of taping.
Thanks' for answering by the way  :-)

No, you only need to type it once. After it formats the first disk it asks if you want to format another. You just press Y and put the new disk in and press Enter.

Two keys, my son, that's all you need to press!

and for frequently usage, just type the commant to a txt file, save it and rename it to .bat, after this you can run it every time you need to do it. :-)

You can format them on the Amiga too, by specifying PC0: as the DOS device.
